Good materials tell a story over time, in our homes and in the pieces we wear every day.

That is exactly why I have always been drawn to Poppy Barley and this new perforated Bluebell in The Modern Day Mary Jane just takes it up a notch!

From April 17–19, Studio C in Saskatoon will host a thoughtfully curated collection of seasonal bestsellers and new arrivals from . Timeless, elevated pieces designed for real life....the kind that move seamlessly from work to weekend to travel.

Poppy Barley is crafted with intention and high-quality materials, these are pieces that soften, wear in, and become even better with time. Trust me…soft as butter!

As a Canadian B Corp, Poppy Barley is also committed to ethical and sustainable production, which makes me appreciate the brand even more.

Whether I am sourcing for a home or choosing what I wear, I am always drawn to pieces with substance, selecting what feels thoughtful, beautiful, and made to last ✨

I was reflecting on how it has already been a year since I closed the doors to my very first studio + retail space… so I thought I would share this little before & after ✨

That space held so much creativity, connection, and the beginning of something I’m still so proud of. But as time went on, I realized the part that lit me up the most wasn’t the retail side… it was the studio. The creating. The quiet. The freedom to play.

So while I said goodbye to in-person retail, I had to believe that this next chapter isn’t a step back it’s an expansion of what mattered most.

My new space is just that: a true studio (yes! I do have a new studio space in town…I’m just a little incognito). A place to design, to dream, to make a mess, to find clarity. A space that feels more like me.

This reflection was a good reminder that sometimes growth doesn’t look like “more”… it looks like alignment. Plus can we all agree that all this grey can move aside for warmer whites and a little more colour!!

Here’s to evolving, trusting your gut, and creating spaces that feel right ❤️

Is it weird that sometimes during a first walkthrough I can already picture the after shots? Because that’s exactly what happens while I am walking through and listening to you describe your home and share your design needs.

This family made it easy. Once that drywall dust settled, those imagined moments turned into real ones and I’m so grateful I got to capture them, even if we laugh about feeling a little Sears Catalogue-esq at times. This kind of picture came to mind on the first day thanks to a non-negotiable request.

The chair must stay exactly where it was.

The view of the yard and grain bins to the north, a quick swivel to check who’s coming down the driveway, and of course… the Riders, or hockey, or curling or golf on the screen. I could see it from day one, and I’m happy to say we kept it right where it belonged.

There’s something special about photographing a family actually living in their space after a project wraps up and these wonderful clients absolutely understood the assignment. I may have even convinced the youngest that it can be pretty fun doing laundry 😉

More photos from this project are coming. And forever grateful for clients who take all the before-and-during photos…because I was fully in my head, dreaming this one up from the start.

🤍

We all love a beautiful, polished flat lay of finishes to inspire us.

Swipe to see the project flat lays that make me happiest….the collecting, pulling, layering, shuffling, and second guessing as my fingerprints are left of metal swatches. This messy, creative process is how a cohesive interior story comes together.

Every finish has to belong. And there will
be layers of them…mixing your metals and wood tones. But seeing them together, in natural light, on the job site and in real conditions is what makes the flat lays feel right.

I stepped away from social media for a while after making a shift in my business. A year ago.

Somewhere along the way, this space started to feel loud instead of inspiring, and I knew I needed to listen to that.

I used to love being here—sharing my work, my projects, the things that bring me joy. But that feeling slowly faded, and I didn’t want to push through it or pretend it wasn’t happening. I would stop in from time to time to post because I felt I had to…which made it hard to be creative or myself on here. So I chose to step back, get quiet, rest, and focus on what truly matters to me and the people I love.

That time gave me perspective and clarity, that this space if for me. And now I’m coming back with the intention to find that joy again….sharing from a place that feels honest, aligned, and real.

Thank you for being here. I’m glad to be back 🤍

Based on the poll, a little help might be needed.

Check out some gift ideas from various Canadian small businesses. With the last of the custom orders out the door, there is still lots of options to create thoughtful and curated gifts. And some with a little sass.

Thursday Vibe: Art that is just too good. But honestly…would AI ever scour the Etsy art scene and find this print from the UK that matches your bathroom glow-up? Didn’t think so 😏

Swipe to see the funky bathmat that inspired and pulled this updated bathroom together. So close to unpacking the goods and finishing this project up 🎉

Curating gifts might be the thing I miss most about having a physical storefront. When people come in and we create a gift for someone special.

As I continue to bring in new small Canadian businesses, I think about how to recreate these gift-giving moments.

Please reach out if you are in need of creating something special and personalized. Soon the option to shop curated gifts will be available on the website. Just in time for the gift giving season ❤️

My drawings said “salvaged or vintage door” from the start but when construction was underway they searches were in overtime.

Design stars aligned! My husband just happened to be in Regina when this popped up so there was no travel involved. Better yet, ZERO work needed to be done to it for it to be a seamless addition to blend the original house with the new mudroom and garage.

It was a wild Saturday night when I went to deliver to the job site. Celebrations were had!

The project is in its final install days. So close 🎉 and I can’t wait to share.

Today’s to do list was lovely reminder….

Homes tell a story.

They hold the past, reflect the present, and shape what’s still to come.

As a designer, I have the privilege of stepping into people’s lives — I get to help shape the spaces where they’ll laugh, gather, rest, and grow.

A reminder that it is never just about paint colours or floor plans. It’s about how a home feels — how it supports the people inside it and reflects who they are.

Designing a home is designing a life. And I’m so grateful to play a small part in those stories.
