This summer at Colour Inspired Academy, kids can finally use technology for something more exciting than endless scrolling.

Our NEW Digital Art & Animation Classes are designed for young creators ages 8+ who love drawing, characters, games, storytelling, and creativity.

Students will learn:

They learn how to think creatively, experiment fearlessly, and turn simple ideas into something meaningful.

At Colour Inspired Academy every project starts with curiosity:
“What if I try this color?”
“What happens if I mix these materials?”
“Can I create something nobody else thought of?”

And honestly? That’s where the magic happens. 🎨

Some students come to us shy and unsure.
A few months later they proudly walk into the studio holding paintings, clay sculptures, sketchbooks, and ideas they never thought they could create.

🎨 What happens when students stop worrying about “drawing perfectly” and start exploring? Magic happens.

This week our students worked on a Mark Making Exercise, an important creative activity that helps artists think beyond simple lines and shapes. Instead of focusing on perfection, they experimented with different marks, textures, pressure, movement, and rhythm to create expressive artwork full of personality.

Mark making teaches students that a single line can become movement, emotion, texture, or even tell a story. Some transformed random strokes into dragons, underwater worlds, flowers, and abstract compositions. Every piece became completely unique because there was no “right” answer.

Art isn’t only about learning how to draw. It’s about learning how to see, explore, take risks, and discover your own artistic voice. 💫

Why do artists start with weird background colors? 🎨🐟

This week our students explored the technique called Imprimatura layers — an old painting method used by artists to create more depth, harmony, and movement in their artwork.

Instead of painting on plain white paper, students first created a colored base layer. Then they gradually built the fish using many layers of color on top.

Look closely and you’ll notice something interesting: even though every student painted the same fish, every artwork feels completely different. Pink creates a playful mood, orange adds energy, purple feels softer, and darker backgrounds create stronger contrast.

Imprimatura teaches students an important lesson: art isn’t just about copying what you see — it’s about understanding how colors work together and how layers can completely change the feeling of a painting.

And yes… this is why artists sometimes trust the process while the painting looks “strange” in the middle stage 😄

At Colour Inspired we don’t just teach kids how to paint — we teach them how to think like artists.
