How I began marbling my pottery...

When I started my pottery business six years ago, I was super intrigued by the idea of making marbled pottery. I loved the organic nature of the patterns.

So I decided to try making a slip casting mold to allow me to colour and marble the clay. I hadn’t made anything like this before, and it sure wasn’t easy.

I spent a lot of time researching to teach myself how to make molds. I had failed mold after failed mold, ruined prototypes, and plaster disasters. It wasn’t easy putting in countless hours just to feel devastated and hopeless.

BUT.. I didn’t give up, and I’m so glad!

Because now, after all those years filled with many frustrations, hard work, long hours, I have finally mastered making slip casting molds!

It has allowed me to create a really unique marbling brand for myself, grow and scale my pottery business, succeed at craft shows and sell to over 50 retailers in North America. Plus, save my body all those aches and pains from hunching over at the wheel.

And you can do it too.

There is a need for good quality information on making slip casting molds. I have been on the other end of that need which is why I wanted to create quality resources accessible to you.

I created this course for you!

The world is in a crazy state right now. The headlines are heavy on our minds and weighing us down. It can be hard to know which direction to turn or what to do with our time.

A lot of you have been telling me how you're having a hard time getting your pottery supplies right now or even being able to access your studio. It's true! And it's especially hard when a lot of us are relying on our creativity to carry us through the days.

But one way we can focus our creative energy that doesn't involve supplies is...drum roll please...learning!

Instead of pausing, twiddling our thumbs and waiting for things to open up, you can be investing in yourself and your pottery skill through online learning. If not now when the world is mostly shut down, when?

There are no required supplies before taking the course, you can learn, dream up your next designs, follow along in the workbook and prepare all the needed calculations before beginning to make your mold.

I know that when this is all over, I want to be able to look back and be proud of myself for taking action, when it would've been easier to stay on the couch. Who's with me?!

Check out the link in my bio and see for yourself the course and how great online learning is.

Okay, I can't hold it in any longer….

I have to share some more details with you about my newest digital course release. If you haven't heard, I just opened enrollment for my Mold Making digital course!

By the end of the course, you'll have:
+ A clear understanding of molds and plaster.
+ The knowledge of how to identify different molds and when to use which kind, eliminating your confusion.
+ The expertise to create the best prototype for your mold that will save you many mold construction frustrations and set you up for success.
+ The ability to mix plaster, the right way, the way nobody talks about. I believe this is the number one reason why molds fail, by the way!
+ The knowledge to make multiple types of molds from simple/beginner to more complex that will give you the confidence when constructing these yourself.

Do you think this would solve the mold making problems you're experiencing now?

I know for me it sure did. What once felt like a waste of time and very confusing, now feels like the part of my business I couldn't do without, all because I put in the work to learn how to do it well.

TODAY is the day that my Mold Making for Ceramics Digital Course opens!

Here's what you need to know: in this course, I'm going to walk you through my exact step by step process of how to turn your idea into successful slip casting molds.

This has literally taken me years to learn, but I'm dedicated to helping you succeed sooner rather than the years that it took me.

Because at the end of the day, this is about quality. When implemented correctly, you can make quality molds at a quicker pace so you have more time to spend on the things that you want to be doing rather than wasting time figuring this out on your own.

This is only available for a short time, until Sunday, May 17 (at midnight EST) and won’t be available again for a while. So be sure to secure your spot before then!

Tag your pottery friend who this would help!

What's so great about slip casting molds, anyways?

Oh I'm so glad you asked! For a while I wondered the same thing. Then I realized learning slip casting molds is a serious game changer.

Slip casting molds help you scale your production, increase your orders and your profits. Yes please. Not to mention it saves your back from sitting at the wheel and turns out you won't need carpal tunnel surgery next year like I may have needed.

Slip casting molds also help decrease your production time of your pieces so you can spend more time carving, painting or decorating. And unlike wheel thrown or hand built pieces, slip casting molds allow for a wide range of decorative techniques.

Plus, as creatives, it is always fun and exciting learning new techniques that we can apply to our pottery, right?

Tell me in the comments which one sparks your interest most! Personally, I love that I can create such unique designs using slip casting molds and play around with coloured slips. My favourite is marbling, can you tell?
