With today being National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wanted to re-introduce one of our talented vendors - Matilda Jararuse - a local indigenous artist who owns One Spruce Twig Beadwork. Matilda is proud to be Inuk, and we are fortunate to have a selection of her earrings for sale in our store. They range from $10-$12 a pair and we have many different designs to choose from!
You can also find some of Matilda’s jewelry at Tides Art Gallery. You can also find her most Wednesdays (including today) at the Kentville Farmers Market just behind us in Centre Square from 10-130, and on Saturdays at the Wolfville Farmers Market!

Introducing our New Kitties (Fergus and Alastair), and a reminder to pick up one of our Banana Bread soy candles or wax melts today or tomorrow in support of Safe Haven Animal Rescue Annapolis Valley!
While we wanted our focus to be on remembering Digby this month, we also wanted to take a moment and introduce the two newest members of our family - Fergus (tuxedo) and Alastair (grey tabby)! We adopted these two from Safe Haven, where some of you may have known them as Midfielder and Defender - part of the (locally) famous World Cup Kittens! They were found living rough in a barn along with two other siblings, and the kind folks at Safe Haven brought them all back to good health and gave them so much love!! We were hoping to be matched with some affectionate kittens, and they sure did find us the right match! Within seconds of Alastair opening his eyes from a catnap, he’s launching himself against you demanding snuggles! And Fergus has some of the loudest purrs you’ve ever heard, especially as he comes for snuggles most mornings as soon as the alarm goes off! We’ll be sure to post updates for everyone to see, but for now here are a few of our favourites to start!!

Update… We’re OPEN and Fergus is doing absolutely fantastic 😻
Sorry for the short notice, but we will be closed for a couple hours today (Saturday) between 11:30am and approximately 2:30pm as we need to take Fergus in to see the vet for a quick follow up appointment. Fergus was recently neutered and we want to make sure that his incisions are healing properly. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you either before or after his appointment. We’re also open tomorrow (Sunday) from 10-5!

Introducing Banana Bread, our Scent of the Month for September in loving memory of our cat Digby, who we had to say goodbye to back in July. Diggers had a little sweet tooth, and since bits of Banana Bread were one of his favourite treats, we couldn’t think of a better scent to remember him by😻
To celebrate the many years we had with Digby, we will donate $2 from every Banana Bread candle ($1 per pack of wax melts) sold at our store in Kentville and at NewScotlandCandles.ca in September to Safe Haven Animal Rescue Annapolis Valley! This will help Safe Haven in their mission to “rescue and save the lives of mistreated, abandoned and injured cats and kittens.” They also offer a low cost spay and neuter program to community members who need assistance.
While our focus this month is on remembering and honouring the many years we had with Digby, we also wanted to quickly introduce everyone to the latest members of our family - Fergus and Alastair (who we adopted from Safe Haven)! We promise to share more about them in the coming months, including lots of cute kitten pictures 🙂. For now, you’ll find a picture of two of them at the end of the post, right after some of our favourite pictures of Digby 😻
