We've brought in several new books this week, including The True Cost of Wool by Anna Hunter (from The Long Way Homestead). This book is a really thoughtful read about the Canadian wool industry! You'll learn about what happens to Canadian wool, where your fibre comes from, and read stories from farmers, mills, and other industry members.

As always, local pickup is free, no minimum order, and we ship across Canada!

Happy WIP Wednesday! I'm working on the progressive pride flag (pattern by Kim Smith ) for pride month and for the new shop space!

I've used Briggs and Little Heritage and Regal so far, and October Knits BFL DK held double. I've got a skein of red Heritage wound, and then will be dipping into these lovely skeins from October Knits and Topsy Farms!

We offer free local pickup in Kingston, ON (shopping hours coming soon!). We also ship across Canada!

I wanted these pics from the Ottawa Knitters Guild Vendor's Night to have a permanent place on the grid! Such a fun evening - thank you Ottawa knitters from bringing such a wonderful energy.

I really crammed as much as I could onto the table :)

If you missed the exciting news on stories yesterday... We are expanding out of my home office and into a space at 14 Cataraqui St, unit 5!

This will allow us to carry a wider variety of yarns and provide part-time in-person shopping hours and more frequent events and workshops! We will still be offering free local self-serve pickup on Charles St.

I am hoping to be ready to soft-open the space in the week before Canada Day! First - I have a lot of packing, painting, and other prep to do!

If you'd like to support our move and help lighten my load of things to pack, I would be so grateful! I am offering 10% off the entire store until noon on Friday with the code "lesspacking".

We've added one last summer yarn to the shop before I move onto woolier options for the fall!
Lune from Julie Asselin is a beautiful blend of silk, linen, and a touch of merino wool. It's a light DK weight so is nice for sport or DK patterns. It comes in gorgeous multi tone colours of which we have 9!

Happy FO Friday!
I cast off my Tolsta Tee last night (pattern by Rebecca Clos) and am very excited to have a new warm weather top!

I used our yarn of the month, Ancient Arts Nettle Soft DK, in the colours Adire and Champagne. I only used 3 skeins for this project, and had lots left so you may be able to squeeze this top out of 2 skeins of this yarn for the smaller sizes if you are doing a single colour version!
This yarn is a lovely choice for a spring knit as an alternative to linen or cotton. We have many colours in stock that I think would make beautiful combinations for this top!

This yarn is a merino and nettle blend and is so soft and drapey. It's a lovely option for summer knits like tees and tanks, but also is a great option for year round sweaters and accessories.

Happy Friday ☀️
I've been working on another summer top - the Tolsta Tee by Rebecca Clos . I'm using Ancient Arts Nettle Soft DK in Adire and Champagne. This yarn is new to the shop and is so soft and drapey. A lovely choice if you want a summer knit but lean away from cotton or linen.

We have lots of other colours of this yarn in the shop - I think a bright summery colour blocked version of this tee would be so cute!
