Meet tallow — the warm, light-lifting neutral that does everything quietly and beautifully.

Named after the natural material once used to make candles, this pale cream carries just the softest hint of pink and yellow that keeps it from ever feeling cold or flat. It reflects light brilliantly, which makes it a go-to for darker spaces or for that seamless one-colour-throughout moment we all love.

And yes, it's a nursery favourite for a reason.

This month was filled with beautiful moments both personally and professionally.⁠

I had the pleasure of helping clients style and refresh their homes, bringing new life to spaces they already love.⁠
⁠
We celebrated a month full of birthdays — William ( furbaby), my mother-in-law’s milestone birthday, and my hubby’s special day. Every celebration was a reminder of how lucky we are to have such wonderful people in our lives.⁠
⁠
We also loved opening Mill & Ivy for another season and are excited to keep moving forward with the construction and finishing touches on our new shed project.⁠
⁠
And of course, the biggest highlight of May has been our adventures in Spain. From the incredible beauty of Mallorca to continuing our journey through Barcelona to Madrid, we’ve been making memories, exploring new places, and filling our cups along the way.⁠
⁠
As May comes to a close, we’re feeling incredibly grateful for family, meaningful work, new experiences, and the opportunity to reconnect with what matters most.⁠

This month's guide is all about kids' bedrooms and designing them like they actually matter, because they do.

A room a child grows into rather than out of. One that has a place for everything, light that shifts with the day, and enough personality to feel like theirs without being so theme-heavy it needs a full refresh in two years.
We walked through layout, colour, storage, lighting, and the small details that make a space feel personal. The kind of room that's beautiful for you and actually functional for them.

The dark glazed tile against raw wood panelling shouldn't work as well as it does.

Handloom rugs are everywhere right now

We've all been in that phase of perfectly matching furniture and spaces that look great in photos but don't really feel like anything. Handloom rugs are the antidote to that. Every single one is slightly different, a little imperfect, and completely one of a kind, and that's exactly the point.

People are craving homes that feel real. Textured, layered, lived-in. A handloom rug does that better than almost anything else in a room.

Meet Hidden Gem by Behr

A smoky jade that adds depth to familiar spaces without overwhelming them. Grounded and alive all at once.

It works beautifully as a full room colour-drenching moment, featured through millwork, or even carried onto a ceiling paired with wallpapered walls. Used on cabinetry and trim, it creates incredible depth and warmth. Pair it with warm creams, natural wood, and soft textures like linen or bouclé, and it becomes something really special.

April, you were a good one

A mix of progress, inspiration, and a few behind-the-scenes moments that are starting to shape what’s next.

From a beautiful Easter spent overlooking Georgian Bay, to pulling the trailer out of winter storage and beginning prep for another cottage season, those slower, seasonal shifts always hit a little different.

In between, design projects continued in full swing, including a visit to Ensuite in Kitchener to pick up a client order (and soak in all the showroom inspiration), and narrowing in on stain approvals for the Mill & Ivy custom shed door. Seeing those selections come to life never gets old.

And somewhere in the mix… packing has officially begun for our upcoming trip, a little pause before everything ahead.

Grateful for the balance of work and life lately, and excited to carry this momentum into May.
