I put together this Japanese-inspired zen garden terrarium featuring lush land moss, natural stones, and a miniature pagoda, all layered over a striking multicoloured accent substrate.

Watching a self-sustaining micro-ecosystem thrive inside a glass jar is such a peaceful experience. This handcrafted sanctuary features a rugged, natural stone cliffside draped in lush, vibrant live moss and creeping greenery. Tucked right into the ancient rock face sits a gleaming golden fortress, protected beneath a clear glass cloche atop a warm wooden base.

Day 60 UPDATE

60 days in and this little scene is still doing its thing. The pagoda’s still tucked in behind the rock, moss has filled in nicely, ferns spreading out on their own !

This is the part I love most about terrariums. Once it’s built , it just runs itself.

Anyone else find it wild that a jar can basically take care of itself? 🌿
