Hubby brought home pizza for dinner last night so I could get canning done earlier. Almost a case of peaches later 13 pints canned up! Still have an other case to go, I save the soft spots to use in my peach whisky jam! 🍑🍑
Hopefully my hands and back let me get more canned up today 🤞🤞

Going to the farmers market today, finally!
Wanna know something? I actually was in the process of signing up for the farmers market before news of granpa and having to travel down south.
We normally go 2-3 times a month as a family in the summer so the fact it’s the end of Aug and where going for the first time just shows how wonky of a summer it’s been for us.
Looking forward to grabbing some delicious food items from my fav locals and grabbing some fruit from the fruit truck for canning season!

Cafe morning with the family this morning ♥️
Trying to get back into routines and baking while navigating grief, slowly but surely.
Cafe was a real treat this morning pancakes with whipped cream and blueberry sauce! Used my favourite blueberry pie spices and the whole family loved it! I’m honestly debating on canning some up to have on the shelf for future breakfasts; 🫐 🥞

The best part of Saskatoon picking for the freezer, is the snacky snack afterwards! This years picking was even better cause I got to go picking at a friends farm with my bestie! It was the best evening ever and I very much needed it ♥️
Now to put the berries in the freezer and enjoy my bowl of saskatoons, milk and sugar 🤤

Today has felt heavy, so dinner was chicken and root vegetable stew with buttered sourdough, perfect with a cup of tea on this lovely rainy Sunday. Just what I needed ♥️

Honey dill ribs, roasted asparagus and tinfoil potatoes for dinner with s’mores beside the campfire for dessert. Was a good evening 🥰

We are home and have been settling in after a few weeks away, came home on Saturday during that intense storm! Unloading the truck in pitch black at midnight wasn’t the most fun, Sunday was spent with no power majority of the day and cleaning the yard up from trees that were knocked down. Been spending the last couple days just trying to get back into the flow of things, grief sure makes you not want to do much some days but today I made spiced strawberry jam, I took my last jar down south when I went and needed a restock asap! That means that we had vanilla icecream and spiced strawberry jam sundaes for dessert 🍓

Sorry it’s been so quiet around here on my page, June was a hard month and even though you can see it coming it doesn’t make it easier when you lose someone, my granpa passed away and I’ll be heading home for a bit to be with family. When I’m home I’ll be back to baking. I was hoping to join the farmers market this year but I feel with everything going on summer is sure going fast so will see if I’ll be able to make the market in the near future.

Today’s the day! Looking forward to seeing all my fav vendors, enjoying the awesome food trucks and seeing all the fun take place as everyone enjoys the event I put so much effort towards each year, this event has held my heart for years and I’m so proud it’s our 5th Pride in the Park! 🥰
