It's 🍌, but someone actually said this to me in person. I know they were just jealous I was working in a shop and they were literally coming asking for a job 😆, but I still find it funny people put weight into these metrics. Especially when the number you need to reach gets bigger and bigger (what is it now? 20k?).
The irony is that these big numbers don't really mean anything and just as many 20k tattooers are saying their books are empty. I'm too busy tattooing clients to be playing the influencer game we all hate, and you gotta ask yourself if you're booking a tattoo artist or Instagram influencer if they are a little too good at the reel game 🤔
I also have worked in the digital marketing space in the past, and guess what? Some lucky accounts do go viral, while the majority jump onto Fiver, Upwork, or some other app and hire someone to mine followers for them inside paid following circles or by botting programs that either steal accounts or create fake profiles. There's people in under developed countries doing these jobs.
If you're another artist, don't let these silly numbers mess with your 🧠. All that matters is who actually supports you. Do you sell art, prints or get paid to tattoo? You made it then.
