This time last year, I was downsizing, slowing down, and making space to re-evaluate how to move with intention. I felt like the studio was moving me, not the other way around. If I’m honest, I was scared of what I had created, scared it was bigger than me, scared to f**k it up.
This past year felt like taming the beast: learning how to harness the lessons of my life’s greatest teacher - my practice, my business. I paused to bring more structure to something I had been running toward at full speed since day one. As a result, we produced some of the studio’s greatest achievements to date, and the stretching taught me the boundlessness of my own capacity to create and adapt.
SBS moves and operates because of so many people. Because of trust, collaboration, community, and shared belief. We create art that lives at the scale of buildings and homes, with a sense of permanence. And god damn, that still feels astronomical to me.
This year, the studio experienced more growth than ever. The clients have been absolute saints, deeply understanding who we are, trusting us fully, and hiring us to do what we do best. All of this is supported by a brilliant, capable team I am endlessly proud of.
All I can say is thank you. We made it here through the love and support of our incredible team, collaborators, community, and clients. We could never live this dream without you. Cheers to 2025, the year the seeds began to bloom into the most beautiful garden I have ever seen.
