Connecting the art to the land, communities and artists behind it. 💚

We’re proud to see Wachiya highlighted by Tourisme Autochtone Québec / Indigenous Tourism Québec.

The Indigenous Québec map displayed in our boutique was installed by Tourisme Autochtone Québec and has become a meaningful part of the Wachiya experience, helping visitors better understand where the artists and communities represented in our store come from, including the vast territory of Eeyou Istchee.

It adds important context to the work we carry, connecting each creation to the people, communities and territories behind it.

ᒦᐧᑫᐦᒡ Meegwetch to Tourisme Autochtone Québec for this thoughtful addition to our space and for highlighting Wachiya. 💚

We already loved the Wachiya boutique in Montréal, but we love it even more now that our map of Indigenous Quebec is on its walls. 🙌🧡

Before even discovering the beaded creations available in the boutique, the map helps visitors better understand where the artists and their communities come from, as well as the vast territory of Eeyou Istchee. It also features greetings in Indigenous languages, including Wachiya, which means “hello” in Cree.

A beautiful addition that helps connect the creations to the territories they come from. Stop by and discover it on your next visit to Montréal! ✨

Meet Isabelle and Noreen Neeposh 💚

Isabelle and Noreen are traditional artists from Ouje-Bougoumou who specialize in beadwork and earrings, and both are CNACA Members.

Beaded earrings are patient work. Every row is placed by hand, and no two pairs come out quite the same. It's one of the ways these skills stay alive and keep moving between generations in Eeyou Istchee.

Their work is available in store at Wachiya, 79 Rue Saint-Paul E in Old Montréal.
