This is what renovation looks like before the beautiful reveal.

Covered floors. Unfinished fixtures. Materials still waiting to be installed. Rooms temporarily acting as dumping grounds. The part of the project where everything can feel messy, slow, and a little hard to imagine.

In this behind-the-scenes series, we’re sharing a real look inside Project Grosvenor while it’s deep in renovation progress, walking you through the design vision for each space in this main floor renovation.

This is also why we always recommend, when possible, that clients avoid living through a renovation. Not just because of the dust and mess, but because the stop-and-go can feel frustrating when you’re seeing the process every day.

Renovation almost always looks worse before it gets better.

A beautiful inspiration image can give you a feeling, a direction, a spark. What it can't give you is a home.

Creating a real home — with real measurements, real trades, real lead times, real budgets, real materials, and real life happening around it — is a very different process.

That's where the work happens.

The creative work, yes.
But also the logistical work.
The coordination.
The sourcing.
The problem-solving.
The conversations with clients, contractors, suppliers, installers, and trades.
The details that have to look beautiful and function properly once the dust settles.

It starts with seeing what’s already there: the character, the charm, the details worth preserving. In this Notre-Dame-de-Grâce home, the goal was never to erase its personality. It was to work with it.

From the first concept to construction, every stage required creative vision, logistical planning, and close collaboration between our team, the client, and the trades bringing the work to life.
