Handmade Memory Quilts - by Melanie & Phyllis

Handmade Memory Quilts - by Melanie & Phyllis We offer handmade memory quilts using old baby clothes, t-shirts, blankets, etc. We also make memory shirt pillows with embroidered patch. Just ask!

Wondering what to do with your baby's old clothes or your old T-shirt collection? Why not turn the clothes into a quilt that can be cherished forever? Memory quilts made of clothes give people a way to hang on to the memories you've made over the years. They are also a fantastic way to upcycle baby or adult clothes that are either too damaged to sell, or clothes you wish to keep but would likely e

nd up in a box in your basement! We can turn them into a modern quilt. We have been making quilts for 8+ years and have expanded into making memory quilts (approx 50" X 60" and larger) for parents or children to cherish for years to come. We will require about 35+ shirts/outfits and can also work with old blankets, bibs, sweatshirts, pajamas, receiving blankets, etc to piece together the most perfect memory quilt. Memory quilts start at $175. You supply all the clothing you would like on your quilt and we will match it with a coordinating backing and binding. All extra material is included in the above price. We live in Moose Jaw, SK and Assiniboia, SK areas, but can also work with people throughout Saskatchewan if we are travelling to your area. We also travel to Manitoba and Alberta as well and can work through the mail if you're wanting that too. Please browse through some photos of our quilts. Please contact us for more information and a price quote. We'd love to get started on your memory quilt!

Danielle is a repeat customer from Whitewood. She writes us every few years to make another baby clothes quilt for her. We love these creations as they are filled with so many memories.

A king sized baby clothes quilt takes time to create as the clothes are so small. But the end result is beautiful! Thank you Danielle for continuing to come back again and again!

Robyn reached out to make a queen sized quilt for her son using a bunch of his old t-shirts. She dropped off in June, but mentioned she wasn’t in a rush and there was no timeline for completion.

How long a quilt takes depends on what size you’re looking for and how many orders we have in the queue when you drop off. In Robyn’s case, we still had quite a long waitlist, so her order took until December to complete. Our longest wait times are grad season and Christmas season.

The end result was beautiful and we know he enjoyed opening it on Christmas Day!

Lillo sent us a second tote of sweaters when we dropped off her first order. This time she requested 3 pillows for family members and a second quilt using her late-husband’s clothes. Thank you Lillo for trusting us a second time with your memories.

Crystal wrote us last year to inquire about a grad quilt for her son. She originally asked for a double size, but we quickly figured out that in order to fit all of the sports jerseys, it would need to be a king!

This happens a lot! Clients write in and ask how many clothes they need or what can all be included and the truth is, we don’t know until we start cutting. Most clients leave the size to us and we make a recommendation after we cut the clothes and begin the layout process. Watching it all come together is so satisfying and we know our clients are ending up with a beautiful gift!

Thank you Crystal! We hope your son loved his grad gift.

Debbie reached out to us again as she had referred our name to her friend Jim and he was hoping to have two quilts made. He chose the couch sized, summer style quilts and also requested a memory patch on the bottom. Thank you Jim for trusting us with your memories.

Arlette is an old friend from Weyburn who contacted us about making a quilt for her son for his graduation. He loves hockey and still continues to play. She wanted to gift him a quilt filled with all of the teams he’s played for over the years as he grew and learned his sport.

We were so happy to make this for you Arlette and hope Justin loves his quilt!

Steven didn’t have enough clothes for a quilt, so he wrote in to request 4 memory pillows. After they were finished, he asked for 1 more to complete his order. A total of 5 pillows were created in memory of a loving dad, Grandpa and husband. Thank you for your order Steven.

Kristen reached out last year about making a graduation quilt for her son using his sports jerseys. We had made a quilt for Kristen’s daughter 5 years ago for her graduation, so it just made sense for us to do the same for her son.

Unfortunately, we once again forgot to take a finished picture of this beauty, so you end up seeing the initial layout design before it was all sewn up and quilted. But you get the idea.

Thanks for order Kristen. We hope your son enjoyed his grad quilt.

We have two options for quilts: summer style or comforter style.

A summer style quilt does not contain batting in between the layers. It is a thin, light blanket that’s nice for watching a movie on the couch or taking on a picnic. This is a nice option for those who are hot blooded and don’t like to be too warm. Summer style quilts are less costly than comforter style quilts because they don’t include the extra batting charge.

A comforter style quilt does contain polyester batting in between the layers. It is a thicker, warmer quilt that is nice for use on a bed and to keep you warm at night. This style of quilt is a nice option for those who are cold blooded and want more warmth with their quilt. Comforter style quilts have a slightly higher price point to account for the extra batting.

Our photo shows the difference in size for each option. If you would like to place an order for a quilt, send us a message and we will send you our price list.
