Thread and Maple is synonymous with exquisitely crafted tools and organisers for makers.

We are thrilled to support this women-owned 🇨🇦 small business.

The leather pieces are handcrafted by a small studio in Ukraine 🇺🇦. The cork ones are made by artisans in Portugal from responsibly harvested cork.

Each piece is timeless, with the leather developing a patina with age.

Added bonus: At a time when prices are going up, it’s amazing to me that the price of Thread & Maple’s bags have remained steady. (At least from the last time we carried it, three years ago.) Despite the war, despite increased shipping costs, and despite inflation. It’s very impressive.

We’re making Timber Pullover by The Cozy Knot™ | Crochet Patterns & Designs

We love this pattern because it is unisex and generously sized (from 39 - 62”). The unique side-to-side construction creates a knit-like fabric. So much so, that customers have argued with me in the store about whether our sample, modeled here by Anjali, was actually knit. (So funny!)

Many of you are coming home for the weekend, and hoping to visit Unwind. Here are our holiday hours:

Thursday from 10 AM - 9 PM (our Social is from 7-9, join us!)
Friday from 10 AM - 5 PM (another Social from 10-12)
Saturday from 10 AM - 5 PM
Sunday & Monday CLOSED

The animals are all knit, styled and photographed by Cathy, from patterns by Cinthia Vallet.

We have both of Cinthia’s books in stock now - the new Chez Myrtil, and the best-selling Mouche & Friends. Each animal is knit seamlessly from the nose down, so no sewing! And the patterns include clothes and accessories. Just the sweetest!

You might have seen glimpses of Lori in photos of our team meetings or events. We lost her to cancer in September.

Lori Rawlings was our Bookkeeper, our Payroll, and one of my guiding lights. I always said that I could not run this store without her.

It is absolutely devastating not to have her pragmatic advice. She was a dear friend, a business advisor, and one of my favourite people to kvetch with about the state of the world.

The Unwind Team felt and appreciated her deep care and attention.

Lori and I worked together on many projects before Unwind and she dealt with every challenge with grace, energy, and a strong moral compass. Truly one of the most grounded people I know.

What a loss.

🍂Try a new-to-you sock technique
🍂Complete a UFO by finishing the second sock
🍂Make baby socks or booties
🍂Use Fall colours for your socks
🍂Make spooky socks
🍂Post a selfie with your sock(s). Be sure to tag us!
🍂Donate new socks to Inn From The Cold | Newmarket Homeless Shelter We have a bin by the front door for store bought sock donations. If you are further afield sock donations to a local shelter qualify!

Cathy made it in LANGYARNS Yak - a soft and luxurious blend of merino and yak. Yak is durable, breathable, lightweight and its incredible thermal properties keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter.
