Retention is not only shaped by salary, benefits, or culture.

The office plays a role too.

When a workplace makes focus harder, meetings more frustrating, or collaboration less natural, employees feel it every day. Over time, those small points of friction affect pride, productivity, and whether people feel supported by the company.

Research shows that employees in great workplaces are nearly three times more likely to stay with their company.

That does not mean design solves retention on its own. But it does mean the workplace should be part of the conversation.

Most growing businesses make the same five mistakes with their workspace, and the biggest one isn't running out of desks.
