The Renovation Domino Effect: It all started with removing one window.
That one decision reshaped the floor plan, which meant the small, old games hutch no longer fit the vision. Like many renovations, one thoughtful improvement leads to another.
From the beginning, we were committed to preserving the charm of this vintage cabin rather than replacing it with something brand new. The warm honey-pine walls are part of its history, and we wanted to celebrate that relaxed, nostalgic feeling—not erase it.
A new games hutch, slightly larger and relocated to become the room’s focal point, was the perfect solution. But to balance the warmth of the wood throughout the space, it also needed a fresh coat of paint to help ground the room and create contrast.
This cabin is all about slowing down. Surrounded by nature, it’s a place to disconnect, whether you’re spending the day outdoors or gathered inside on a rainy afternoon. Open the hutch and you’ll find more than books and keepsakes—you’ll discover Rummoli, Skip-Bo, Backgammon, Crib, puzzles, and the simple joy of spending time together. Displaying these well-loved games isn’t just decorating; it’s telling the story of how this family uses and enjoys the space.
