Concrete that hasn't been touched in 8 years vs. concrete that just got the College Pro treatment. Oddly satisfying. Genuinely transformative.

Thunder Bay. 1971. Greig Clark was 17 years old. He had a customer who needed a paint job. He didn't know how to paint.

He sold the job anyway. Then he figured out how to deliver it.

That's the founding story of College Pro. He called it 'acting as if'- long before anyone had a TED talk about it. He's now built a venture fund (Horatio Enterprise), chairs Trails Youth Initiatives, and helped lead the $22M 40 Oaks affordable housing project in Toronto.

The constraint that started the company- 'sell first, learn fast'- is still the operating principle.

Greg Clark started College Pro Painters out of desperation in 1971 when he was only 17 years old. He needed to pay for university and realized his summer job wasn’t going to cover his tuition, so he went door-to-door to sell his first painting job…without knowing how to paint!

POV: You hosted on the patio for the first time this summer. 🍷 The deck is sealed. The siding's clean. The grill is ready.

We came two weeks ago- you noticed today. That's the College Pro guarantee.

We asked: 'What makes College Pro genuinely different?'

Alex Doerksen (Calgary, former corporate sales): 'It's the first culture deck I've seen actually lived.'

Peter Doerksen (Calgary, alumni-to-FP): 'The development is the business. Not the side dish.'

90 seconds. Two answers. Same conclusion.

FAQ: Does rain make your windows dirty?

💧 Nope! If your windows look streaky after rain, it's because dirt and pollen were already sitting on the glass. Rain just reveals it.

Can we clean in the rain?
💧 Yes- especially if there's an overhang or awning. Each estimate flags whether the job can be cleaned in rain.

Does it have to be sunny?
💧 No. Overcast days are actually ideal- no glare, no premature drying.

"In my 20s I was lightning in a bottle."

Steve Rogers signed up as a College Pro franchisee at 25. Twenty-three years later, he was CEO of a 7-brand franchise portfolio doing $600M in system-wide sales - College Pro, CertaPro, Paul Davis, California Closets, and more.

His whole philosophy in one line:

"The most important thing in business is to know thyself - and to be able to look in the mirror and say, 'I don't want to be Donald Trump or Bill Gates.' It's enormously freeing the day you can say, 'I don't want to.'"

That's the CP thesis. Build a business as you build yourself.

Thunder Bay, 1971. Greig Clark started with a simple observation: university students needed meaningful summer work, and homeowners needed reliable service providers.

Under that simplicity sat an extraordinary operational challenge: every year we started from almost zero. New operators. New crews. New territories.

Most businesses build on institutional knowledge. We had to transfer everything we knew to new owners - fast enough that they could run profitable operations within weeks.

That constraint became the moat. Innovation didn't happen TO us. It was forced into our DNA.

55 years and 20,000+ entrepreneurs later, the same DNA powers CP EDGE.

Build a business as you build yourself.
