Well, this seems like an appropriate Thanksgiving weekend to finally share some news. 😂🍂
This year, I’m feeling particularly thankful for an opportunity I never really expected to have.
A few weeks ago, I entered FTD’s Intern with Ian competition. It sounded like an incredible experience, and I figured, why not?
And then I won.
Which was very exciting.
Until I realized that winning meant I actually had to get on an airplane, leave my comfort zone, and go be an intern. 🤣
For those who don’t know, my sister Shannin and I started Floratechnics back in 2011. Fifteen years, a few flower shops, and approximately a million lessons later, here we are.
And somehow, after all that time, I’ve been given the opportunity to become the student again.
From October 14–18, I’ll be heading to Florida to spend time learning alongside internationally renowned floral designer Ian Prosser AIFD, getting a behind-the-scenes look at luxury weddings, large-scale installations, and a whole different side of the floral industry.
I’m genuinely grateful. I’m excited. I’m nervous.
And I’m fairly certain I’ve spent more time stressing about this trip than I spent actually entering the competition. 😂
But this Thanksgiving, I’m especially thankful for the people, experiences, and unexpected opportunities that remind me there’s still so much left to learn.
Here’s to 15 years of flowers, the people who’ve been part of the journey, and whatever comes next. 🥂
Happy Thanksgiving! 🍂
P.S. I finally have a passport, so apparently this is really happening. ✈️🤣
