People often ask me, "How long does it take you to make a stained glass piece?" For this fella it will be almost 4, eight hour workdays.
I am incredibly proud of this commission. It is for a lovely lady who saw yellow throated toucans on a recent trip to the Caribbean. He is such a cheeky little guy made with some pretty amazing glass. I am so in love with his Bullseye eye piece and the Oceanside burgundy on baroque.
The hard part was not the glass cutting but the engineering so he was structurally sound on the driftwood and that the weight was evenly distributed so that the tail and driftwood would not pull away from the body of the bird.
All that is left to do is to apply conservators wax to the entire piece and then buff it out to a shine.
I am so proud of this guy.
