"Embracing Change"

To our Valued Customers and Friends,

For the past 23 years, McBead Creations has served the beading community with a commitment held by our family and our staff to quality products, experienced help and inspiration. It is due to your loyalty that we have celebrated these many years. During that time, so many have become dear friends and your support means the world to us.

Many factors have led us to our decision to change how we operate. We will be closing our storefront location at 3 Chartwell Avenue in Ottawa at the end of this July and untethering our business from the brick-and-mortar location to pursue a more online-based and mobile presence.

We have so many happy memories that we have shared over the years at our shop. Bead Bop, trade shows, Tv News appearances, anniversary events, and countless birthday parties and classes.
Neighbours who drop by with treats and helping hands, selfless volunteers, early mornings and late nights preparing for shows and special events. Ladies beading nights where laughter could be heard outside! Most of all, the daily visits and patronage of each and every one of you has made these past 23 years truly a pleasure.

We have also weathered storms, including a real tornado! Then a pandemic, the loss of some of our faithful friends, a recession, my recent health challenges, and most dearly, the loss of our co-founder, my mother, Barbara. You have all stood with us through these difficult times.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our staff who have helped us over the years. Your hard work, undying loyalty, selflessness, and passion for the craft has made this and incredible journey I didn't have to face alone!

But now we are eager for this new change! We invite your to join us as we move forward, evolving with a new, more modern way of operating!

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and our website www.mcbeadcreations.com for all our up-coming events and promotions. Facebook Live events, pop-ups in the community, and delivery of local online orders will keep us as familiar faces in your lives as well.

We will continue to offer beading supplies, jewellery-making classes and parties, as well as hand-made accessories with an increased focus on our website, Etsy shop, and our presence on various media platforms, including our growing YouTube channel. We will host beading workshops off-site in various areas in the city, allowing a larger reach to our client base, in both the east and west ends of the city. Watch for us at local bead shows, community events and craft shows!

Our last day of operation in the store will be Saturday, July 25, 2026.
We will also be extending our store hours during the next 2 weeks to give you all an opportunity to visit us and enjoy some deep discounts on many products! We will be open Monday-Friday until 8 pm. Saturday 11-5.

205 days. That is how long Lovey has been waiting.

​If you follow our page, you know that 205 days is an incredibly long time for a cat to be in our care. Most of our rescues find their families quickly, but our beautiful 10-year-old senior girl keeps being passed over, time after time.

​Lovey’s world completely shattered back in December. Her owner was suddenly rushed into palliative care, with absolutely no time to prepare or say goodbye. In a single afternoon, Lovey lost the only home she had ever known and the person who had loved her fiercely for a decade. She went from being a cherished companion to a rescue cat overnight.

​To make matters harder, Lovey actually did get adopted once, only to be promptly returned through absolutely no fault of her own. She packed up her little life, went to a new home, and was brought right back to foster care to start waiting all over again.

​Through all of this loss, Lovey’s heart remains completely open. True to her name, she is a deeply affectionate soul who is happiest when she is the center of her human's universe. She spends 90% of her time just sitting right alongside her people, and she will still be the very first one to greet you at the door with a hopeful look in her eyes. She even has the sweetest, silly little playful moments that will make you smile.

​No one will ever replace the owner who loved her for 10 years, and Lovey isn't asking for that. She is just asking for a second chance to matter to someone. She has spent nearly seven months watching other cats get chosen while she sits in a loving foster home, wondering when it will be her turn.

​After 205 days of waiting, Lovey just wants to come home. She has so much love left to give—she just needs someone willing to receive it. Please help us share her story so she doesn't have to wait for day 206. 🏠💕
