1950s Floor Refinishing

Species: Maple — old-growth maple from some of the first trees cut down. Some of these boards are over 12 feet long!

These floors were pretty uneven, which is understandable considering how much time has passed since they were originally sanded.

But the character in these floors? Some of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

So how do you make that deep character pop without turning the maple too yellow?

Simple.

We used Bona IntenseSeal as the sealer, followed by a few coats of Bona Mega One.

The IntenseSeal really brings out that deep, rich character you would normally associate with a penetrating oil or wax finish, while the Bona Mega One provides the durability and protection of a urethane finish on top.

Natural character. Deep colour. Modern protection.

We're incredibly pleased with how this kitchen transformation turned out!

These high-resolution before and after photos showcase one of our latest cabinet refinishing projects.

At first glance, the cabinets didn't look too bad, but they had already been refinished once before. The home had previously operated as a daycare, and years of daily wear and tear had really taken their toll.

Many of the cabinet doors had cracked frames, chipped corners, dents, and deep scratches. The drawer boxes had loosened over time, with joints separating from years of use. Every drawer was carefully disassembled, re glued, reinforced, and adjusted before refinishing. We also spent countless hours sanding, filling damaged areas, and restoring the cabinets to ensure they were ready for a flawless finish.

After all the repairs and preparation, the entire kitchen was professionally spray-finished, giving it a smooth, durable, factory-quality look.

The end result is a bright, modern kitchen that looks brand new without the expense of a complete replacement.

A successful cabinet refinishing project starts long before the paint is sprayed. It's the preparation and attention to detail that make all the difference.

Finished up a kitchen transformation in Kanata! 👌

Back in 2017, we refinished the hardwood floors and stairs in this home. Nearly a decade later, the homeowners called us back
This time to bring their kitchen back to life.
