How have you been handling this summer and all the storms?? Has it impacted you?

We’re thankful for minimal damage - although this has been the summer our oldest has developed a fear of thunderstorm ⚡️

The love for a small town.

It’s knowing that the main street hasn’t fundamentally changed in thirty years, yet finding comfort in the exact way the morning light hits the weathered awning of the corner bakery. It’s the unwritten contract that everyone knows your story—or at least a slightly exaggerated version of it—and the strange comfort that comes with never truly being a stranger.

Small-town devotion is built on a few core truths:

•Living Memory: Every street corner holds an echo of who you used to be. You don’t just walk past a diner; you walk past the place where you spent half your youth nursing cold coffees and hot fries.
•Radical Community: It’s the neighbor who notices your driveway hasn’t been shoveled, the shopkeeper who holds the door because they know your hands are full, and the unspoken rule that when a storm knocks out the power, three people will show up with extra generators before you even think to ask.
•A Slower Cadence: Life isn’t measured in rush-hour traffic or endless hustle, but in seasonal shifts, Friday night lights, local markets, and five-minute errands that accidentally turn into forty-minute conversations on the sidewalk.

It’s an affection rooted not in perfection, but in connection—the feeling that you aren’t just passing through a place, but that the place is actively living through you.
