En esta edición, el número está dedicado a la ceramista Celia Vásquez Yui, artista shipibo-konibo que participa en la 61.ª Bienal Internacional de Arte de Venecia con su colección “El consejo de los espíritus madre de los animales”. El texto analiza cómo su obra, inspirada en la cosmovisión amazónica y en el diseño kené, invita a reflexionar sobre la naturaleza y los saberes ancestrales.

Along the Ucayali River of Northeastern Peru, women from the Shipibo-Conibo villages have been composing striking, geometric designs to cover pottery, woodcarvings, and textiles for over 1200 years. Each woman must design her own pattern that both expands upon the work of her ancestors and remains faithful to a highly traditional style. She will then use that pattern to decorate the crafts she makes throughout her life.

his Vintage Peruvian Redware Terra Cotta Pottery Mission Religious Church is a wonderful piece of Peruvian Folk Art.

It measures approximately 7” tall, 5” wide and 2” deep. It has wonderful musician ,, the 3 little people at the doorway to the tiled roof.Please see photos as they are part of the description. This piece will display nicely and or make a great addition to you collection.
Great attention to detail with great depth and design! Architecturally beautiful with terra cotta roof tiles, open air windows, church bell tower complete with 2 bells, and hand painted decorative accents throughout. Handcrafted clay on clay people displayed in a unique configuration in the doorway of the church. A one-of-a-kind piece uniquely handmade by a local artisan. Not an expert on this type of folk art, so I do not know if this was made in Peru
