This stunning bouquet was filled with vibrant tropical flowers. All flowers change during the drying process as they lose moisture, but tropical flowers change the most!
Colour correction is not something I do, but after the bride saw how drastically her flowers had changed, she asked if I could colour correct them. So down the colour correcting path I went!
Red ginger was the flower that changed the most. It went from a beautiful, bright fuscia to a dark purple-ish colour, very different. Also beautiful, but not quite the same vibe!
I wanted to keep the flower looking as natural as possible and decided to punch up the colour and make it brighter, rather than make it the same colour as when it was fresh. I like that you can still tell it was dried, just not as sad!
The orchids started as a beautiful, bright yellow. But, as they dried a large part of the flower turned brown, BUT with that came some beautiful detail on the petals! You just never can predict how some flowers are going to look.
To keep the striations that appeared during the drying process, I did more of a “colour wash” so the variations that appeared naturally during drying stayed, BUT the flower overall would be say ‘tropical’ instead of ‘depressing’.
I also colour corrected the Anthurium, but didn’t take photos of that (oopsies).
This preservation is in the final finishing stages and I can’t wait to share it!
