Somehow we managed to squeeze in some wreath making between four weddings and Thanksgiving this week! 🤪🍂

Now we’re just waiting for them to fully dry and watching their colours slowly change. 🧡

Our October newsletter is here! 🍂🌿

This month, we are celebrating all the little things that make fall so lovely — getting to know the beautifully fragrant freesia, discovering the dramatic Alocasia, and sharing a few tips for bringing your houseplants back indoors as the weather cools.

Plus, a little shop update, Thanksgiving flowers, florist tips, and more from behind the scenes at Thorn & Petal. 🤍

Grab a cup of something warm and have a little read. ☕️🍂

Happy October, flower friends!

October is probably our busiest month for wedding designing this year. 🤍

Floristry is one of those businesses where the final result shows so little of the story behind it.

The finished flowers are always beautiful, joyful and sometimes incredibly touching. But behind every bouquet and every wedding is so much more than arranging flowers. There is planning, calculating, ordering, conditioning, timing, problem-solving and constantly balancing what is possible with what we want to create.

I always feel like floristry asks you to be rational and artsy at exactly the same time. One side of your brain is calculating stems, quantities, timing and logistics, while the other is thinking about colour, movement, texture and feeling. Finding that balance is hard.

But somehow, after all these years, this is still the work we love. ❤️

And going into one of our busiest months, I am especially grateful for my team. Life does not stop just because wedding season gets busy. We all have important things happening in our own lives, and yet everyone still shows up, jumps in and gets the work done together. That kind of trust and bond means so much to me.

And to all of our flower growers and suppliers — thank you. We could not do any of this without you. Many of the flowers we are designing with right now were planned and planted months ago, cared for through an entire growing season, harvested at just the right moment, sourced, packed and brought to us.

By the time we place that final flower into a bride’s bouquet, so many hands have already been part of its story.

I think that is one of the things I love most about this work. We all get to play a small part in bringing some of nature’s most beautiful creations into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life. 🤍

Definitely one of the more unique bouquets from this wedding season. 🤍 We loved seeing the bride’s vision come together so beautifully in the end.

A big thank you to Photographer • Editorial • Cinematic for capturing these beautiful moments and sharing them with us. It is always so special to see our flowers through such a talented lens. 🥰

One of my favourite bouquets from 2026.

I always feel like a bridal bouquet should carry a little bit of the person it was made for. The colours, the movement, the little unexpected details… this one just felt like you, Jen🧡

A little colour, a little movement, and a whole lot of personality! 🍓🌸

We had way too much fun creating these playful pieces for a dance studio, filled with beautifully locally grown blooms from Sycamore Hill 🇨🇦

From oversized dahlias and fuzzy celosia to wispy grasses, pops of yellow and those adorable strawberry pots - we leaned into colour, texture and movement and let the flowers have a little fun.

Proof that flowers have rhythm too. 💃
