The Willow Project is just getting underway and I’m so excited to see it come to life! The goal was to create a space that feels pretty, casual and comfortable. It’s a space for adults to relax and grandkids to curl up for a sleepover.

This room will get soft blue walls, elegant pencil moulding and crisp, white built-ins surrounding a plush pull-out sofa. We will be layering in natural textures, soft greens and blue and white patterns to keep the room feeling interesting and relaxed.

Painting starts tomorrow and the built-ins are in progress (all done by Handkind Construction) Stay tuned for more updates!

This was such a fun Design Roadmap project! 💙🩷

We were tasked with turning a tired, builder-grade basement into a fun, welcoming hangout space for two very sweet and very deserving teen girls.

We wanted the space to feel bright, fun, and very THEM.

We centred the room around a large, comfy sectional that is perfect for movie nights, sleepovers, and plenty of lounging. Across from it, a beautiful blue media unit provides a home for special treasures and, of course, the all-important TV.

A gym/dance practice area was a must, along with space for an artist’s corner and a drum kit. And we made sure there was LOTS of room for personal photos, because what’s a teen hangout without pictures of the people you love most?

I don’t know about you, but I definitely wish I had a room like this when I was that age!

The plan is in their hands, and I can’t wait to see how they bring it all to life and turn this vision into a space that feels completely their own!

I’m finally getting around to posting my design inspiration from Spain! It wouldn’t be complete without a good look at the beautiful Barcelona.

When I was in design school, Antoni Gaudí was one of the designers who really stuck with me. His work was completely unlike anything else I was studying. He pushed boundaries, embraced colour, pattern and organic forms, and seemed completely uninterested in following the rules of what architecture was “supposed” to look like.

Seeing his work in person all these years later was pretty incredible.

What I love most is the confidence behind it. There is so much happening, yet every curve, colour, texture and detail feels intentional. Casa Batlló especially reminded me that a space doesn’t have to be quiet to feel beautiful or timeless.

My own design style may be much more classic, but that idea has stayed with me. Good design doesn’t have to play it safe. Sometimes the most memorable spaces are the ones that take a little risk.

A reminder that colour can be timeless, too.

Even the everyday architecture had me looking up.

Layers of stone, ironwork and history around every corner.

A reminder that dramatic architecture existed long before Modernism.

And then there is Gaudí.

Scale, texture symbolism and almost no straight lines.

Proof that breaking the rules can create something timeless.

Barcelona, you were worth the wait!

Spain reminded me that timeless design is built on simple ideas repeated beautifully.

Rhythm. Texture. Light. Expression. Spaces that feel connected to their surroundings.

These are the details that caught my eye and the design lessons I’ll be bringing home to inspire future projects.

Rhythm
Repeating balconies, windows and shadows create a quiet sense of order without feeling predictable.

Texture
Pebble mosaics, brick, stone and plaster prove that texture can be just as impactful as colour.

Courtyards
Some of the most inviting spaces aren’t inside the home. They’re tucked away quietly at its heart.

Light
The streets themselves are designed for the sunlight, creating shade, contrast, and changing patterns throughout the day.

Expression
Design doesn’t have to be restrained to feel timeless. More Modernist inspiration still to come…

Perspective
A simple arch can transform an ordinary view into a destination by guiding your eye exactly where it should go.

Timeless
The best design feels like it belongs exactly where it stands, no matter how many years pass.

I’m back from a trip through Portugal and Spain…and I’m completely inspired!

Whenever I travel, I find myself looking past the landmarks and into the details. I love finding weathered doors, centuries-old stonework, handcrafted tile, beautiful proportions, and textures that tell a story.

While most people fill their camera roll with vacation photos, mine fills up with design inspiration.

Over the next little while, I’m sharing some of the details that stopped me in my tracks and the design lessons I’m bringing home with me.

Great design isn’t just found in showrooms. Sometimes it’s waiting down a quiet street or behind a beautifully aged door.

People often only see the final reveal of a project, but every finished space is backed by countless decisions, revisions, site visits, measurements, samples, problem solving moments and tiny details that all come together over time.

From the initial consultation to space planning, budgeting, selecting finishes, construction walkthroughs and final styling…so much care goes into creating a home that not only looks beautiful, but truly works for the people living in it.

Design is never just about picking pretty things. It’s about creating spaces that feel personal, functional and lived in.

Nothing makes me happier than designing a space that feels so you! 🎀🩰🌸

This one was extra special! Eleven-year-old Olivia came to me wanting her room to feel bigger and more “her,” with space to breathe but still full of the things she loves: dance, bows, and flowers.

We started with the sweetest wallpaper (see the last slide!) from that tied it all together, then worked around pieces she already had to maximize every inch of her 11x10 room.

Proof that you don’t need a huge space (or all new furniture) to create something really special!
