The spring couldn’t have started market season with more of a bang for Paige the fibre.fanatic and me. Looking forward to an exciting summer. There is so much planned that I’ll have to leave telling you about August for another post.

What an incredible weekend at the Glengarry Renaissance Festival! 🏰💚 Rumour is 12000 people came out to experience the faire!

Two full days at Maxville Fairgrounds — what a community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Cheesemaster's Cottage Fiber Arts tent, chatted with me as I geeked out about all things wool or picked up a crocheted treasure from Apprentice Paige. You made the weekend.

Thank you to the organizers at faires.ca2025 such a wonderful event. Summer is in full swing — follow along to see where we're headed next! 🐑

The second day of thr Glengarry Renaissance Festival is on! I want to take a second to acknowledge some of the other crafts people who have made this weekend amazing.

First, Iris Hui for my amazing new display chest.

Second, Keith of radicalhomemaker for working with me on developing wool combs that work and don’t break the bank.

Third, Kelsea Shorewick of The Wool Witch for my amazing banners.

Fourth, Don Maclean for all my beautiful spindles and distaffs.

Fifth, but definitely not least, Paige Dupuis the fibre.fanatic for being the best “Apprentice” I could ask for.

Over the past few months I've been collaborating with a local 3D printing artisan to develop a set of entry-level wool combs — and I'm genuinely proud of how they turned out.

Wool combing produces that gorgeous, airy, fibre prep with all the fibres aligned that makes the most of longwool fleeces and fancy fibres. The problem has always been that a quality pair of commercial combs runs $150+. So the barrier for entry is high even before you even know if you like the technique. These combs are designed to change that.

They're sturdy, they work, and they're priced to let you actually *try* combing without a big commitment. Perfect for: Spinners curious about making their own combed top; Anyone with a stash of longwool fleece (Lincoln, Border Leicester, Wensleydale); Fibre artists who want to blend colour or remove VM before spinning.

Priced at $40/ pair range these will be available at my upcoming market and faire dates, or for local pickup/delivery. Drop a line in the comments if you want more details!!

📍 Find me at upcoming events: Glengarry Renaissance Festival May 30 and 31, Smith Falls Night Market June 13th.

Something new is coming today, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve been working with a local maker behind the scenes — can you guess what it is? (Hint: it’s for fibre prep, and it’s something a lot of spinners have been waiting to try without breaking the bank.) Comment your guess! Reveal coming today at 7pm🐑
