Anyone who knows me knows that green has always been one of my favourite colours.

There are just so many beautiful shades of it, and I love how green instantly brings a little bit of nature indoors. It feels fresh, calming and timeless… and somehow always works.

Acadia Pear is such a pretty one. A gentle green with yellow undertones and a soft silver cast, it reminds me of foliage when the sunlight hits it just right. Gorgeous and calm.

It’s one of those colours that feels happy without being bright, earthy without being dark, and would be beautiful on everything from a vintage dresser to a little accent table or cabinet.

Choices.

Red Brick didn’t go out of business.
Red Brick closed its storefront because that’s what I chose.

Life is full of decisions. They aren’t always easy, but they’re ours. We can’t control everything that happens, but we can control how we navigate.

Closing the doors to my brick-and-mortar store wasn’t the hardest decision I’ve made, but it was an important one. And when the time came, it felt right.

That decision became final when my dad went into the hospital. I had already been craving change, but in that moment I was reminded that nothing is more valuable than time.

I chose family.
I chose less stress.
I chose a more balanced life.

I feel incredibly grateful to close this chapter with peace. And honestly… I’m excited for what’s next.

This isn’t the end of Red Brick Emporium.

My entrepreneurial brain never stops—it’s always dreaming and creating.

I’ll continue to grow my website, and I’ll keep designing the greeting cards that filled my little shop with laughter every single day. Seeing customers surround my card stand, laughing uncontrolled and often leaving with a handful of cards, has been one of my greatest joys. My hope now is to bring that same laughter into shops across Ontario—and beyond.

This is simply a new chapter.

August is for slowing down. We’re planning to sell our home and build next to my parents. I’m looking forward to time in the gardens, creating garage space for my laser, CrossFit, catching my breath, and soaking in summer with family and friends.

The website relaunches in September, and I can’t wait to see many of you at the Perth Night Market.

To everyone who supported Red Brick over the years… thank you.

Your tears, hugs, messages, stories, and kindness mean more than I can ever say.

If there’s one thing I hope you take from my story, it’s this:

You are never stuck.

You can change your mind.
You can change your direction.
You can choose a different path.

It may be hard. It may be emotional. Not everyone will understand. They may try to change your truth.

Let them.

The only truth that matters is your own, and the only decision that matters is the one that brings you peace.

Change is scary. Do it anyways!

My dad has always been there.

He taught me the value of working hard. He inspired my creativity, my entrepreneurial spirit and my desire to be a positive influence in the lives of others. He also showed me how a woman deserves to be loved and treated, simply through the way he has always loved and cared for my mom.

I know how fortunate I am.

When his health suddenly took a turn earlier this year, it brought with it an uneasy feeling I wasn’t prepared for… the thought of what life might look like without him. It was a thought I am not truly ready to face.

I am choosing to focus on the time we have together and everything still ahead of us. I look forward to building our home next door, being close enough to help my parents each day and sharing more of those ordinary moments.

Dad and I will putter in his workshop working on projects together. He will continue teaching me his tips and tricks for refinishing furniture, and I will continue trying to convince him of the joy of painting it! There is something wonderfully ironic about growing up watching my dad carefully refinish furniture, only for me to build a business teaching people how to paint it. I suppose, in our own different ways, we have always shared the same love of giving old pieces a new life.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Thank you for always being there, for everything you have taught me and for the example you continue to set.

That's a wrap.

After so much thought, emotion, and reflection, I have made the decision to close our storefront. Our doors will officially close on Saturday, July 25th, or while product lasts.

I usually love writing a long, heartfelt post when something big is happening, but this one has been hard to put into words. Red Brick has been so much more than a store to me.

What started as a little business dream turned into one of the biggest chapters of my life. In November, Red Brick would have celebrated 12 years. Twelve years of creativity, risk, growth, connection, hard work, and community. Twelve years of learning not only how to run a small business, but how to trust myself, stretch myself, how to keep going even when things felt uncertain, and knowing when it's time for it to come to a close.

That time is now.

With the changing retail landscape, the demands of running a brick-and-mortar store, and where I am at in my life, I know in my heart this is the right time to close this chapter and make space for whatever comes next. To every single person who has supported me, shared my posts, cheered me on, attended an event, painted a piece of furniture, or simply walked through the doors and chose to support this little store, thank you.

To all the amazing women who have been part of my team over the years, thank you. Your support, hard work, friendship, and belief in this dream helped make Red Brick shine. We truly built something spectacular together.

To my family, thank you for always lifting me up when I felt discouraged, for cheering me on in my accomplishments, and for giving me the space to forge my own path, including making the difficult decision to close this chapter. Your love and support carried me, and I love you all so darn much!!!

Once again, thank you for being a part of the Red Brick Emporium journey. You helped make this place so much more than a shop. You made it a community, a creative space, and such a meaningful part of my life.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for 12 beautiful years.

This year, I want to make my Mother's Day post a little more personal.

I have been so fortunate to have this incredible lady as my mom, although there were times in my life when I didn't fully realize just how lucky I was.

I certainly do now.

My mom has taught me so much throughout my life, and continues to do so.

Recently, our family has faced some unexpected health concerns with my Dad, and without even realizing it, she is showing me what love looks like in a crisis. How to nurture, support, and to love in moments like these. How the strength of family can guide you through your most challenging times.

My Dad, is doing much better, and I have no doubt that her love, care, and strength have given him strength too. She truly is a warrior.

I love this lady with all my heart.

I love you, Mom. Thank you!

Take Two... my first post was not approved 😂

It feels like forever since I’ve had all three of my kids under one roof! The past two weeks have been exactly what this mom needed.

Today I’m off to the airport to send my daughter back to Australia, so I’ll be closed while I soak up every last minute with her before she flies off.
