Today is a day of mourning. We memorialize the children who died, we send comfort to all Indian Residential School and Sixties Scoop survivors and their families.

These shameful programs combined took over 200,000 children away from their mothers and we are still counting. When you break a mother, you break a family forever. This is the very definition of genocide and it continues today here in north america and around the world.

For those who don't know, the 'Sixties Scoop' is a mis-named crime. It was, and still is, a parallel program to the residential schools where children were abducted at birth or very young (too young for school) and (dis)placed (sometimes purchased) as farm/domestic workers or dispersed into the foster care system forever as wards of the Canadian government. This program has outlived the schools and even today sits with the courts of Canada in search of justice in real time.
