How to Cook a Turkey in the Elkanah Reusable Silicone Turkey Bag
1. Prepare
Fully thaw the turkey, remove giblets and neck, and pat dry. Ensure it fits comfortably inside the bag.
2. Season
Coat with butter or oil and season as desired. Add onion, lemon, or herbs to the cavity for extra flavor.
3. Preheat
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Place the silicone bag inside a sturdy oven-safe roasting pan.
4. Bag & Vent
Place the turkey in the bag and leave a small opening at the top for steam to escape. Do not completely seal the bag.
5. Roast
Place on the center rack and roast according to the guide below:
Turkey Weight | Approx. Cook Time @ 325°F
8-12 lb: 2¾-3 hrs
12-14 lb: 3-3¾ hrs
14-18 lb: 3¾-4¼ hrs
18-20 lb: 4¼-4½ hrs
20-24 lb: 4½-5 hrs
Cooking times are estimates only.
6. Check Temperature
Use a food thermometer to confirm the turkey reaches 165°F in the breast, thigh, and wing. If stuffed, stuffing must also reach 165°F.
7. Rest & Serve
Carefully open the bag away from your face and hands. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Care & Reuse
Allow bag to cool completely.
Wash with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
Rinse and dry thoroughly before storage.
Store flat or loosely folded.
Inspect for damage before each use.
Tips: Always use a roasting pan, keep the vent opening unobstructed, avoid sharp utensils and direct contact with heating elements, and rely on internal temperature rather than cooking time alone for food safety.
