Took the time over the last month to spend some time back in the shop doing some carving. I was drawn to carving. And decided on doing some small bird carving. These two are made from balsa which is silly soft. So not many details can be added. But the outlines look pretty good. Next is to move on to some bass wood and work on some more details.

Some pictures of a commission I made for a clients husband. It is a red oak dice tower for table top games. I chose to ebonize it to fit with the dice tray I made for them previously.
It is such an awesome way change the entire look of the wood. I added some brass pins to both the tower and tray for accents.
The pictures do not do it justice. The evonizing made it much darker then the pictures show.

Five years, two kids and two houses latter it is time to retire this wonderful birch crib I made.
One of my favorite pieces that I have ever made and has held up so well from the abuse of two children. It was a custom design with three levels the mattress could be placed at. As well as being able to be easily disassembled with just a few dowels holding the mortis and tenon joints together.
It's suffered enough damage that it's unfit to be re-homed sadly. But I'm sure I will fine a use for some of the pieces from it.

Finally some real work occurring in the shop! Always got to bite off a little more then I can chew though. Finished all the joinery, now just have to finish the interior of the cabinet.
By far the largest joinery project I have done. All the panels had to be glued up and then flattened by hand because they don't fit in my planner. Lots of manual labor going into this project!
