A little introduction & something close to my heart🩷;
Outside of The Lawg Cabin Workshops, I’ve spent the past 9 years supporting some truly amazing individuals with a variety of abilities and support needs. Over the years, we’ve built relationships, gotten to know each other, and shared so many great moments. I genuinely love what I do.
Painting has also become a form of therapy for me. It’s one of the few times where my brain gets quiet, I can focus on what’s in front of me, and just create.
So today, I decided to bring that feeling to the people I support. I ran a little test paint workshop with 10 individuals, all with different abilities.
I provided a basic starting point, lots of colours, and fun textures and embellishments like glitter and gems , and let them make it their own. ✨
And the coolest part? For about 15 minutes, it was completely silent. Everyone was focused, hands were moving, and creativity was happening. My staff and I just looked at each other in awe.
If you’ve ever worked in this field, you know how rare peaceful, content silence can be. 😂❤️
So… I’m calling this one a success!
I’m excited to hopefully branch out and explore more creative activities with people of all different abilities. Because art doesn’t have to be perfect. Sometimes it’s simply about having a space to create, focus, and enjoy the moment. And this proved just that.
