Sarah Elizabeth Fibre Works Teaching Classes and making some stuff! Sarah Elizabeth Fibre Works is a dream come true for me. I am proud to be a part of the slow fashion movement.

After the birth of my daughter I was driven to create a business that would allow me to work from home and enjoy every precious (and sometimes exhausting) moment together. (read our story here)

With months of work behind me (and with years ahead of me… so exciting!!!!) the Sarah Elizabeth Fibre Works Eco-Luxury brand has come into being. With a focus on sustainability, environmental consciousness, and consumption with awareness, my aim is to both inspire creators, wearers and admirers as well as to create change through action. I aim to use only the highest quality fibres and yarns in my creations; from hand processed and dyed fibre supplies to one of a kind fashions, I have hand-selected my raw materials from all over the world. I work hard to make conscious purchasing decisions that recognize a need for strong local, regional and global trade practices that in turn promote resilient economies throughout the world. I focus on purchasing fleece from small scale farms, minimally processed fibre and yarns from eco friendly mills with good working conditions and, in general, from suppliers that have a strong focus on community. (read more about my suppliers here)

I want each and every customer to feel like they are a part of something bigger than just the fibre, yarn or fashion item that they purchase. A conscious purchase from Sarah Elizabeth Fibre works is a full circle connection; to the farm, to the fibre, to the mill, to the fabric, to the people involved in the process, to the natural world. I hope that this approach will fuel change. Each of these steps taken together can produce change. Change in product origins, change in consumption patterns, change in resource use, and, ultimately, the ripple effect of a safer and more sustainable future.

🪨✨ STONES AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOM CREATIONS ✨🪨

Looking for something made specifically for you? Here’s a look at some of the stones currently available for custom Kootenay Stoneworks creations.

There’s a little bit of everything in this batch — agate and chalcedony, druzy and crystalline pieces, jasper, and some really interesting naturally patterned material. Some are already cut and ready to work, while others still have plenty of potential waiting to be uncovered.

Choose the stone that speaks to you, then we can work together on the wire colour, wrapping style and overall design to create a completely one-of-a-kind pendant. 🔨🧵

🌲 All materials found by us in British Columbia, then cut, polished and finished by hand.

See one you want? Send us a screenshot or message Kootenay Stoneworks and we’ll start designing your custom piece.

⭐ Facebook Stars are also active if you’d like to support what we do!

🤯 THIS MIGHT BE OUR BEST CUT REVEAL YET! 🪨✨

Sarah spent hours meticulously cleaning this specimen, and once we finally put it through the saw… we were blown away by what was hiding inside. 😍

This beautiful material has been identified as agatized datolite — datolite encased in chalcedony. The new cut revealed an incredible concentration of rounded lavender datolite formations surrounded by chalcedony, alongside larger cream and amber-toned sections.

Every cut into this material seems to reveal something completely different, but this one might take the prize so far. 💜🔍

This is exactly why we love rockhounding—you never truly know what you’ve found until you open it up.

All materials found by us in British Columbia and taken from field to finished right here at Kootenay Stoneworks. ⛰️💎

⭐ Facebook Stars are always appreciated and help support our rockhounding and lapidary adventures!

🪨💜 YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW WHAT’S INSIDE UNTIL YOU MAKE THE CUT! 💜🪨

This is exactly why we love cutting BC stone.

From the outside, you’d never expect to find this beautiful little agate formation hiding inside. Once the saw opened it up, we were greeted with soft lavender-purple colouring, delicate banding, touches of green and white, all surrounded by translucent chalcedony. 🤯✨

And the best part? This is only freshly cut — it hasn’t even been polished yet. Just wait until we work through the polishing stages and bring out the depth and colour in this one. 🔥

Every stone we work with is found by us right here in British Columbia, then cut, polished and transformed at Kootenay Stoneworks. 🇨🇦⛰️

🎥 Check out the video and have a look at both halves!

⭐ Facebook Stars are now active on our page! If you enjoy following our rockhounding, cutting and creations, sending Stars is another way to support Kootenay Stoneworks and help keep the saw turning.

This piece tells two stories, depending on how you wear it.

A reversible pendant built around a raw convergence of Galena, quartz, and pyrite, with flashes that might just be gold catching the light. One side leans dark and metallic. Flip it over and the stone opens up—brighter, more textured, and completely different in feel.

Hand-gathered in the mountains of British Columbia, then carefully cleaned and wire-wrapped by hand, this pendant was designed to honour the stone exactly as it came out of the earth. No symmetry forced. No shortcuts taken. Just patience, structure, and respect for the material.

Two faces. One stone. Wear it the way the day feels.

If this one speaks to you, share it with your friends—pieces like this don’t come around twice.

🤍 Nature’s Hidden Surprise – An Agate Nodule Revealed! 🤍

Some of the best discoveries don’t reveal themselves until they’re cut open.

This beautiful agate nodule, collected by us in the Monte Lake, British Columbia area, looked like an ordinary rock on the outside. But after a careful cut, it revealed a stunning interior of radiating white chalcedony with a small crystal-filled center—a reminder that nature often hides its finest artwork beneath the surface.

Watching these hidden patterns emerge is one of the reasons we love rockhounding. Every cut is a mystery, and every stone tells a story that’s been millions of years in the making.

Would you leave this as a display specimen, or polish it into a pendant? We’d love to hear what you’d do!

👉 Follow for more rockhounding adventures, stone cutting, polishing videos, and one-of-a-kind creations—all made from materials found by us in British Columbia.

💎 DITCH-WALKING DELIVERS AGAIN! 💎

Sometimes the best finds happen when you’re not even digging — you’re just paying attention. 👀🪨

Sarah was walking along the ditch at Monte Lake when she spotted this beautiful agate hiding among the ordinary rocks. Of course, once you develop the rockhound eye, there’s no such thing as just walking down a ditch anymore. 😂

This video gives you a closer look at the find and exactly why we keep coming back to Monte Lake. You truly never know what’s going to be sitting right there waiting to be noticed.

From roadside finds to finished pieces, all of the stone materials we work with are found by us right here in British Columbia. 🇨🇦⛰️
