We called our needlecraft business Magic Hour in recognition of all those stitchers who have to wait till their last meeting is done, their last customer is cared for, the kids are in bed, and whatever else is on your plate, to finally sit down for that "magic hour" of peace and quiet when needle and thread meet fabric.

We've had lots of interest in the upcoming KAL, and I am excited to bring it into the Lounge on Saturday to show it off! I've got about half the length done (or maybe a bit more), and I am loving every stitch!
Come on in and see what we'll be working on! We will be releasing the details next week, and starting in early September.

As summer winds down and we all prepare for the pumpkin-spice floods, which will be a nice change from actual floods!, Magic Hour is preparing some awesome autumn events for you!
- Newbie Knitters classes will be starting around mid-September. You can learn to knit in time to make a Christmas present or two!
- Toe-up socks class will also be running at that time. We'll be making warm woolly socks for winter. They make a great Christmas gift, too!
- We'll be offering a KAL (Knit Along) and will be creating a beautiful multi-texture shawl in autumn colours. You're not going to want to miss this one!
- The Silent Reading Group is still on Friday mornings at 9 am. Come in with your book, and just sit and read quietly for an hour or so. It's a peaceful way to finish your week. Coffee will be ready!
- And of course the Happy Stitching Lounge will be available for people come in and lounge and stitch happily while they drink coffee and chat with other stitchers. All needlecrafters welcome!

Bring your needlecraft project and settle in for a coffee, chat with other needlecrafters, and browse our great selection of yarns, cross stitch fabrics and other goodies. A great way to escape the heat for a while.

Happy Canada Day, everybody!
I'm happy to tell you that I'm feeling much better and I will be back in the shop as usual next week. I might come in on Sunday just to sit and knit. I miss our shop!
Please note that we will be closed on Wednesday, JULY 1ST, because of Canada Day. Celebrate this fantastic country, and enjoy some family time! The weatherman is promising great things!

So sorry people! I'm laid up with pneumonia for at least this week. But that's okay! Serena is a real trooper, and would love to see things carrying on even if I'm not there, and so would I. So yes, the shop is open! Come and knit swatches! Sit'n knit in the lounge! Come for the sweater class! I'll be back as soon as I can.

We are very excited about knitting at Fairview Mall tomorrow for World-Wide Knitting in Public day! We'll be there from 10 am to 3 pm, and we are going to make it a really fun day, with giveaways, games, and we're bringing some fresh new yarns for you to try out. Bring your knitting or crochet (or any other needlecraft if you prefer, and settle in for good sit'n knit. There are lots of shops at Fairview to browse through, and lots of food court offerings for your lunch. Hope to see you there!
By the way, of course Serena will still be on duty at the shop, and if you prefer to knit there, she'll be glad to make you some coffee or a nice cuppa tea.

Come join us for World-Wide Knit In Public Day! Drop in to our big table under the skylight in the food court at Fairview Mall on Geneva Street in St. Catharines. We'll be there from 10 am to 3 pm, just sittin' and knittin'. So bring your yarncraft project and settle in for some great sharing and caring. The light is perfect, it's nice and cool, and there are lots of places to choose from for your lunch! We'll have a basket of random yarns and needles to keep your hands busy if you don't have it with you. Of course, the shop and the Happy Stitching Lounge will be open too.

Our friend and Sweater Class student Sherry has finished her sweater project! This gorgeous yoke sweater was knitted in the soft and lovely "Inspired" by Patons, a wool/acrylic wool blend yarn, Sherry is delighted with the fit and feel of her first sweater in decades! Congratulations, Sherry! You did a great job, and it looks beautiful on you!
