Hello all!

Here's a beautiful rocking chair that I repaired and finished for a lovely customer in southern Saskatchewan. This rocker has been in her family for generations at this point and needed a refresh so it could be passed on to her daughter.

In a first for me I also applied veneer to a whole panel. Not only that, but a compound curved seat. Take a look and tell me what you think!

Today I share with you all my first trunk refurbishment!

My customer wanted to keep the antique feel of her heirloom trunk and fix some issues so it could be passed on to her daughter. It needed handles, a lid stay, and work to the latches. I really love heirloom pieces and being a part of their broader story.

The metal portions of the trunk had plenty of grime that first had to be removed. This proved much more difficult than expected! I'd hoped a quick scrub with paint stripper would do the trick but boy was I wrong. What I found to work best was TSP cleaner and a stainless steel brush. I painstakingly went over every inch to get it clean.

The wooden parts were stripped, sanded and stained to bring the grain out. Areas of the trunk that were meant to be black got stove polish to bring back the colour. Finally, I went over the whole trunk with furniture wax to give a nice sheen and prevent future tarnishing.

Good afternoon all!

After a couple seasons away trucking anhydrous and a difficult summer of product issues, I AM BACK!

Pictured are a few of the projects I was able to complete over the summer. The gramophone and China cabinet in particular proved difficult as my finishing kept failing on me. It would end up cracked looking and just not up to s***f. After many test swatches and trial and error I discovered nothing was wrong with my process. Rather, a bad batch of stripper was leaving residue on the pieces that was later reacting with the finish.

With that out of the way, I'm now working to catch up on all the work that was delayed due to my issues. For anyone with pieces that's been left waiting, I appreciate your patience. I'll get caught up as quick as humanly possible.

Good afternoon!

Today I have a set of chairs from a local couple. The customer did a lot of the hard work of stripping white paint off of the set and did a ton of sanding too. What was left for me was final sanding, staining, and finishing. The customer requested a black stain which was an unknown for me but it turned out great!

Today marks one year since beginning my journey in antique furniture refinishing! To commemorate, I wanted to reminisce on some of the amazing pieces that have come through my doors and all that they taught me.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank Manny for taking me under his wing and teaching me all that I know of the business. I hope to continue learning and putting forth my best work daily to return these irreplaceable pieces to the beautiful condition they deserve to be.

To my customers and followers, thank you so much for your support and faith in me and my business. Here's to many years and beautiful pieces to come!

Good afternoon!

This interesting chair is actually a recliner! It was likely made in the 1910s and is of Morris design or inspiration. In need of a full reglue and some structural repairs, it came to the right place.

Like most pieces I work on at this point, it was a learning experience and required some problem solving. More than happy how it turned out!

Good afternoon!

I've had quite a run on chairs here recently, so there's been plenty of practice. In total, 12 chairs came in for regluing and I would love to take a break from chairs for a little while 😂

Good afternoon!

This maple table has seen tons of use and children growing up around it. Now that they're a bit older it's time for a refresh!

For what the customer envisioned, I needed to try a few new things out and I couldn't be happier with the results!
