Please note the change in location, see you this weekend
LOCATION UPDATE: Due to forecasted inclement weather expected over this coming weekend, the Powwow will take place at the Antler River Elementary School grounds at 324 Chippewa Rd, Muncey, ON N0L 1Y0.
We want to share more about how this decision was made. Rain is in the forecast, and the dance arena at the Powwow grounds is already dealing with grass and sand conditions that do not hold up well to heavy rain. For the past two years, when weather threatened, we set our big top tent on the ball diamond. That option is not available to us this year. The diamond is hosting a tournament, and placing a structure that size on the field would damage the outfield.
Rather than risk unsafe footing for our dancers, our Elders, our vendors and our visitors, we made the call to move to the school grounds, where the tent can be set up on solid ground and everything stays together in one place.
We know this is a change from what many of you were expecting. Miigwech for your patience and understanding as we work to make this a safe and good weekend for everyone.
Our 49th Annual Competition Powwow is almost here.
Forty nine years. Nearly half a century of dancers circling this ground, of drums carrying across Deshkan Ziibiing, of families coming home for one weekend every August. This is our Nation's cornerstone event, and we are proud to open it up once again on August 15 and 16.
Two days of honouring our dancers, filling up on good food, and supporting the artisans who bring their work to our community. All are welcome!
