FIXER UPPER Update: Well, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted any updates. I had told myself I was gonna take a break from renos to be able to enjoy summer. But…the only time a person can paint their house is in the summer time, so…I managed to get it all done and add a bit of curb appeal. In the back of the house where there was once an exterior door I managed to figure out and build a feature trellis for vines to grow up from the planter below. That way I didn’t have to change siding or try to piece in, which wouldn’t be an easy task. I was lucky enough to get some great weather for painting. I brushed and rolled the whole thing. Wasn’t too time consuming and I’m happy with the results. 😊

FIXER UPPER Update: the main floor bathroom. This bathroom was a total gut job. We removed a closet and the chimney to gain more floor space, put in a sun tunnel where the chimney was, moved the doorway, new drywall, flooring, tile, paint, light, tub, vanity, etc. The tiling was a lot of work. My brother in law Gavin cut while I set, and then the next day I grouted for about 10 hours!! I could barely lift my arms after! Haha I must say though that I’m loving my spa-like bathroom, so it was worth it in the end!! 😊I will also post a video of it.

Well, it’s safe to say I am officially moved into my FIXER UPPER!! I have been so darn busy between working at my full time job and then working on the house an extra 30-40 hours per week (and not a day off since early April 😳) that I’ve had no time for updates. Now that I’m settling in to my new place I’ll backtrack to share the process. A lot of blood, sweat & tears have gone into this place…I would call it a labour of love. It’s not finished yet, by any means, but so far I’m liking it…and happy to be back to small town living! Big thanks to some of my family & friends for volunteering their time and also to those that I hired to do the extra things I didn’t have the time, energy or ability for!! Stay tuned for more updates. Happy Canada Day weekend, everyone!! 🇨🇦

FIXER UPPER Update: I felt like the front deck was far too large and the back deck was quite rotted out and unstable, so I hired a contractor to tear them apart and re-build them. I hated to lose the vines near the back deck, but ended up not being able to keep them (but hopefully some will come back from the roots!). I worked on flooring on the weekend and finished in the dining room & kitchen and one bedroom. Could barely move by Sunday night, but that’s every weekend lately! Haha

FIXER UPPER Update: Things are coming along in stages at the house. Some painting, construction, etc. Pot lights are in and some other electrical is getting wrapped up by the electrician. My friend Lisa painted the closets and primed a few walls, Ryan Fisher of Fisher Interior Renovations in P.A. happened to come by to pick up something that I had for sale and ended up trading me for some renovation work instead. He did an awesome job with installing the Schluter in the basement shower area, and was so knowledgeable and helpful. My sister Shannon painted bedrooms and my brother-in-law Gavin and nephew Lane installed the cabinets. Big thanks to my helpers…much appreciated!!

FIXER UPPER update: So, my crew and I (my kids and a couple of their friends helped out for a bit too) tackled the subfloor and laid down some of the flooring in the living room and hallway. Great quality waterproof laminate flooring that I’m loving the look and feel of. Feels like progress! Thanks to my boys and their buddies for the help and all the heavy lifting!
