I don't think I've ever shown off my "mostly home-brew" ATC (automatic tool changer) on my CNC. Here's the process in action.

Yeah, it looks easy. It was anything but. Lol.

This tool changer literally saves hours and hours of fussy tool changes, touch offs (measuring the next tool loaded), and idle time (waiting for the operator wake up and change the bit, lol). It also helps eliminate operator errors (wrong bit loaded, forgetting to touch-off, or otherwise mangling the process).

The software was purchased from https://cnc4xr7.com/, and then custom modified it to work with my "unique" requirements. Sam (the owner) was amazing and responsive for the changes I needed.

Sometimes I cut stuff out, with no real concept of what the end purpose of the parts will be. This is one of these case...

This is one of these cases.

The client calls it a "mold", so I'm going to run with that.

Turns out melamine shelving material mills up exceptionally well (top and bottom surfaces) with the correct compression bit. Slots work well with a down-cut bit.

My laser engraver adds a nice touch to a quick cnc project to run off two metabo and two dewalt compatible push sticks.

All finished in natural Tung Oil.
