🔥☀️ GSL HEAT POLICY ☀️🔥
Every summer, the same question appears:
"It's hot... are we still playing?"
The answer is usually: Yes.
This is Glengarry. We play through heat, humidity, mosquitoes, blackflies, junebugs, surprise manure aromas drifting across the county, and that one parent who forgot the water bottles.
However, player safety always comes first.
According to the GSL Inclement Weather Policy, games may be postponed or cancelled when Environment Canada forecasts for Alexandria reach:
🌡️ 37°C or higher (actual temperature)
OR
🥵 39°C or higher (Humidex)
At that point, even the mosquitoes start looking for shade.
If conditions are approaching those thresholds, League officials will monitor Environment Canada forecasts and make decisions as required.
📢 A friendly reminder: Please do not message League officials asking if games are on. During weather events, we receive a large volume of inquiries and are unable to respond to everyone individually. If schedule changes, postponements, or cancellations are necessary, the Glengarry Soccer League will communicate that information through our official channels as soon as possible.
Until then:
💧 Hydrate early and often.
🧢 Wear a hat.
🌳 Find some shade before kickoff.
🥤 Bring more water than you think you'll need.
⚽ Coaches and Referees should plan for additional hydration breaks when conditions warrant.
The GSL summer motto remains:
"Through sunshine, wind, mosquitoes, blackflies, junebugs, questionable bounces, and grass stains, we play soccer."
The two opponents that consistently defeat us are:
⛈️ Thunder & Lightning
🔥 Extreme Heat
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and we'll see you on the pitch.
