As designers, we love to show the final result…but the in-between?
It’s real. It’s messy. It’s human.
And it’s worth it.
I promise.
Let’s normalize the in-between.
A friend asked me the other day,
“How’s the renovation going?”
And honestly…
we’re past the 50% mark,
but somehow it feels like we’re still so far from the end.
There are weeks where it looks like nothing is happening.
No visible progress. No big wins.
But behind the scenes?
Countertops are being cut.
Millwork is being stained.
Pieces are coming together… just not inside the house.
And inside…
it feels like you’re living in a construction zone.
A bedroom that looks unfinished and confused ! Are you moving in or moving out?
A living room that feels like storage, kitchen and everything in between .
Everything, everywhere… unfinished.
This is the part no one talks about.
It starts exciting.
You say, “I can do this.”
You ride the momentum.
And then… you hit this phase.
The slow, messy, uncomfortable middle.
But here’s the truth:
Just because you can’t see progress,
doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
This is where patience grows.
This is where perspective matters.
