🍂 A little country folk art, straight from the 1970s.

A winding creek, a farmhouse among the trees, a horse grazing beyond a white fence, and the countryside ablaze in autumn colour.

This original hand-painted landscape captures the quiet simplicity of country living, with rich oranges, golden yellows, deep greens, and beautifully textured brushwork.

Signed “JAN” and framed in warm wood with lovely vintage character. Perfect for a country cottage, farmhouse kitchen, cozy reading nook, or collected gallery wall.

🧡 Going into this Thanksgiving weekend with a grateful heart and so much to be thankful for.

Sunday is my birthday. I’ll be 53! How lucky am I?! Growing older is a privilege denied to many, and I’m not taking a single day for granted.

There’s a certain freedom that comes with getting older. A weight lifted… the freedom to be unapologetically yourself, to live authentically, and to create a life you love without feeling the need to apologize for enjoying it. I love my life and who I am. It’s so good to be ME!

I do not hesitate to wear the fancy dress simply because it’s Tuesday, or to use the good dishes every single day just because I want to. I take every opportunity to celebrate the little things, and the big things too.

It’s okay to toot my own horn once in a while. To recognize my strengths, be proud of my accomplishments, and give myself a pat on the back for a job well done. Not because I’m boastful, but because I’m grateful!

I unapologetically share my joy without fear of offending others. I let it shoot out of my soul like sunbeams! Lord knows we can all use a little more light in the world so I have decided that I wont let anyone dull MY sparkle.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with seeing life through rose-coloured glasses. Persistently cheerful, infinitely optimistic and always looking for the good in people? GUILTY as charged.🧡🙋‍♀️ And… I prefer to sleep with my glasses on now too!

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Kind of like vintage. The chips, the cracks, the patina… all signs of a life well lived, creating a special kind of charm that only time can create. Wrinkles, grey hair and wisdom from lessons learned… I’ll take them all! Except maybe the turkey neck… because I have yet to find the beauty in my newly developed turkey neck (thanks genetics).

So cheers to me. Cheers to 53. And cheers to you. Thank you for being a part of my story and following along here at Lovey Collected! How lucky are we?! 🧡.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you and yours! 🧡

🍎 1970s Canadian pottery and apples. Could there be a sweeter combination for an autumn kitchen?

This vintage casserole crock is by the celebrated Canadian Potter Flo Greig, who established Greig Pottery in Gagetown, New Brunswick in 1976. Her charming Pattison Apple motif was one of her earliest original patterns, inspired by the apple orchards along the Saint John River.

You can clearly see her signature hand-painted brushwork detailing the apples and leaves, along with the distinct matte, speckled texture of the New Brunswick clay she uses… how cool is that?!

Hand-signed on the bottom and dating to the 1970s, this is such a lovely little piece of Canadian studio pottery. Apples at the roadside stands. Pies in the oven. Vintage pottery on the table.🍎 A true Canadian treasure.

Long before Lovey Collected, there was another open house I looked forward to every November.

It started in the early 90s… I was a young adult, new wife, mom. We were nesting, buying our first home, welcoming babies and discovering what made a house feel like home. Each year, Evelyn and Clare Craig opened their home for Christmas. People lined up to wander through rooms filled with vintage and antiques, primitive treasures and baked goods. It was warm, welcoming and wonderfully cozy.

Those visits stayed with me.

Years later, when I thought about opening my own home for Lovey Collected, I realized just how much those early Christmas open houses had inspired me. I recently reached out to Evelyn to tell her—and reminded her that I had even registered for my wedding at the little shop that she eventually opened beside her home… Homespun Hill. 🏠

So when I open my doors, it’s about more than selling vintage… it’s about sharing that feeling! 🧡 And I am so excited, that this November, I get to share this experience with you!

The Ultimate Thanksgiving Table Inspiration 🍂🦃

It’s the first day of October, and I’m in a giving spirit. 🧡
I’ve been gathering vintage turkey platters, and seeing them together really shows how differently this familiar harvest tradition has been celebrated over the years.

For the Thanksgiving table, displayed in a hutch, hung on a wall, or simply brought out each autumn — there’s a little something here for every style.

Grandpa-core. 🤎

It’s having a moment — warm woods, traditional art, sporting influences, old plaids, leather, wildlife and pieces that feel as though they’ve been gathered over a lifetime rather than bought to decorate a room. And this one hits the trend right on the button.

An original, one-of-a-kind watercolour by local Canadian artist Wayne Deremo, titled Two Girls & A Guy — three ring-necked pheasants beautifully rendered and professionally framed, right down to the real pheasant feathers incorporated into the matting.

The original Certificate of Authenticity remains on the back, along with the archival framing information and even its original $450 price tag.

At 26.5” × 19.5”, it has presence without being oversized — perfect for a den, entry, cottage, study or layered into a collected gallery wall.

I love celebrating local and Canadian art, especially when it feels this relevant again. Funny how the things that have been around for generations suddenly become on “trend.” Everything old, really is new again. Grandpa-core? I just call it vintage. 🧡

Vintage Benjamin Chee Chee — “Spring Flight” 🧡

A vintage art print of Spring Flight by Ojibway artist Benjamin Chee Chee, known for his beautifully minimal depictions of birds and animals using graceful, flowing lines and restrained colour.

Chee Chee was born in Temagami, Ontario, and had connections to Bear Island and the Temagami First Nation. His distinctive work became widely recognized in Canada during the 1970s.

This one feels especially nostalgic to me — Chee Chee’s artwork hung in the halls of my elementary school, so those unmistakable illustrations have been part of my memories for a very long time. However, I did not know the story of the artist behind them, or the culture he represented.

Education matters. What we place in front of children matters. The art, cultures and stories they grow up seeing become part of what they know and remember. There is a responsibility to acknowledge all that was taken from Indigenous Peoples. There is also an opportunity to celebrate all that remains. I believe we can hold space for both. 🧡

🪶 Spring Flight ~ Vintage Canadian Art Prints edition, with the original artist biography and identification label
🪶 Approx. 11” × 14” framed
🪶 A beautiful little piece of Canadian Indigenous art history

🍂 Long before bread came home in a bag, a loaf was part of the table setting itself. It was sliced, shared and served at mealtime — and beautiful serving pieces like the loaf plate had a place at the table.

This vintage Myott Staffordshire Fine Ironstone loaf plate, made in England, carries that tradition forward in the prettiest way. A pair of pheasants wander through autumn grasses and fallen leaves, surrounded by a delicate gold rim. It’s giving that classic English Country feeling.

Dating to approximately the 1960s–70s, it feels especially perfect for this time of year. Use it for a warm loaf of bread, apple loaf, sandwiches or something sweet — or simply prop it on a kitchen counter, buffet or open shelf as a little piece of autumn artwork… add a few little white pumpkins and you’ve got a beautiful fall display!
