One brushstroke at a time, a creative vision is coming to life.

Deena Kruger of Creative Ventures is bringing her artistic touch to this special room with a custom-painted feature wall inspired by nature and filled with personality.

We’re loving how it’s taking shape. And there’s more to come!

Some spaces are designed for work. Others are designed from the heart.

When the Northwestern Ontario SPCA reached out about creating a new Veterinary Wellness Room in Thunder Bay, our answer was an immediate YES.

And we're putting our hearts (and furniture!) into it.

We're proud to be donating the design, furniture and cabinetry to help transform an existing room into a welcoming, calming space for veterinary care, vaccinations and some of the more emotional moments pet families experience.

Together with the talented Dee Kruger, we're bringing a little extra comfort to a space where it can mean everything.

With fresh paint underway, a beautiful mural to come and furniture on order, we're looking forward to unveiling the finished space in November.

And the inspiration behind it all? Three very special four-legged family members: Luna, Darby and Stanley.

Stay tuned for the big reveal!

Big Ideas Start Here. And we're happy to have helped set the stage.

Our team has been busy at Lakehead University's Barrie STEM Hub, bringing classrooms, collaborative spaces and workstations together with furniture designed to support learning, connection and discovery.

From the first delivery to the final chair, it's all about creating spaces where students can think big, work together and turn great ideas into even greater possibilities.

A big shoutout to the installation team from for another job well done.

Lakehead Roofing knows a thing or two about what goes overhead and its new workplace proves it.

We were honoured to help bring this bold new space together, including a local milestone: the first installation of its kind in Thunder Bay.

Warm wood finishes soften the black industrial framework, bright blue panels deliver a confident hit of colour, and streamlined workstations create comfortable, focused spaces for the team.

From private meetings to everyday collaboration, every area feels connected, capable and unmistakably Lakehead Roofing.

Great work happens under this roof. We simply helped furnish it—and bring a Thunder Bay first to the floor.
Thinking about what’s next for your workplace? Let’s open your mind to the possibilities.

HI, I'm Chris. Apparently, I’m the new Andre.

Okay, maybe not exactly. But I am the guy you’ll be calling for installations, schedules, logistics and everything it takes to keep your project moving.

I bring more than 20 years of contract furniture operations and installation experience to OMI, including architectural walls and plenty of time spent on the dealer side of the business. I know the details matter, the schedule matters and being there when you need something really matters.

Andre has spent some time showing me the ropes and yes, I officially have his seal of approval.

I’m looking forward to getting to know OMI’s clients and partners, working alongside Stacey and this incredible team, and helping keep the great work moving forward.

-- Chris

P.S. Andre, enjoy retirement. We’ve got it from here.

Fourteen years. Countless projects. So many great relationships. And one incredible team.

To every client, partner, manufacturer, rep, contractor, friend and team member who has been part of the OMI journey — thank you.

You trusted us, supported us, worked alongside us and helped turn an idea Stacey and I had back in 2012 into something I’ll always be incredibly proud of.

Now it’s time for my next chapter; more family, more travel, a few projects of my own and, with any luck, a whole lot more sailing.

Thank you for an unforgettable 14 years.

— Andre

P.S. You’re in very good hands with Stacey, the entire OMI team and, of course, Chris, who will be stepping into my operational role. I should know; I hired him, trained him and gave him the Andre seal of approval.

After years of dedication, leadership, and being such an important part of Open Mind Interiors, Andre is officially heading into retirement!

As a co-owner, partner, and familiar face at Open Mind, Andre has left a lasting mark on our team, our clients, and the work we do. We were so happy to come together and celebrate him - and what better way to send him off than with an evening at the ballpark?

Andre, thank you for everything you’ve brought to Open Mind over the years. We hope retirement brings plenty of time for family, sailing, skiing, Silver Islet, and whatever adventure comes next.

Congratulations, Andre!

PS: Thank You, Border Cats , for the Support and a Purr-fect Night at the Ballpark!

What allows a design to remain relevant across generations?

Gregory Kahn () reflects on the project-specific work of his grandfather, Louis Kahn - and the honesty of purpose that gives thoughtful design its lasting power.

A fascinating perspective on creating for a particular moment without being confined by it.
