QALAT is a Design Boutique that Showcases the Magnificent Rugs of Morocco in Modern Interiors Qalat is a design boutique based in Toronto.

We procure authentic vintage Moroccan rugs, and showcase them in modern interiors. We also carry a hand-picked selection of contemporary rugs that are made to the old standards. Qalat aims to highlight the vital culture of the Berber people, and to bring voice to the women who create these beautiful textiles. Each rug we offer is a true work of art. Collectively, they attest to the boundless imagi

nation and ingenuity of the Berber people. Drawing from our relationships in Berber communities, we try whenever possible to buy directly from artisans and collectives so that these families benefit to the greatest degree possible. After six beautiful years, the time has come to close the doors of Qalat’s retail home at the end of April.

A significant rent increase has brought us here, and we’re choosing to receive it as a nudge — an invitation to let go, trust the timing, and step into the next adventure.

What a chapter it has been.

Qalat was never just a store. It became a gathering place, a bridge between cultures, and a sanctuary of art and meaning. Every rug carried the spirit of the woman who made it, and each of you helped bring this space to life.

While we’re sad to be closing our doors, we’re also dreaming forward. New creative chapters are already taking shape, and we look forward to sharing them with you in time.

From now through April 25, everything in the store is 30% off. If a piece has been calling to you, this is your moment to bring it home.
