Floris

Floris Toronto-based couture flower shop owned & operated by Sarah & Judy Bayat. Exceptional floral arrangements for all of life's occasions and events.

We can accommodate any design from tightly-bound romantic, sleek-lined modern to anything in between. Floris is as much about our longstanding relationships as it is about our floral designs. We are honored to be involved with many of our clients' families through the generations, celebrating their weddings, birthdays and holidays and supporting causes that are important to them. Every day brings

new visitors to our shops and website, and we welcome these opportunities to widen our family circle, considering each new connection to be a potential long-term relationship. We also maintain close ties with our vendors and visit them all on a regular basis, whether they're flower and plant growers based here in Ontario, exporters from around the globe, or artisans who provide our unique home accessories. Many of these businesses are family-owned, and like us, have been passed down from generation to generation. They share our passion for excellence and our desire for innovation. We value our trusted longtime relationships and we are always excited to discover and develop new sources that keep our product fresh and cutting-edge. In a business built upon the ephemeral beauty of flowers, Floris has formed relationships that last a lifetime. Always looking to the future, we honor our heritage by continuing to blend classic elegance with innovation. Clients flock to Floris for eye-catching upscale designs and lush monochromatic arrangements have a contemporary feel. We focus on clean lines and seasonal flowers, foliage & elements.

We realized we have never properly introduced ourselves here, so we just wanted to say hello.

We are Sarah and Judy, the mother and daughter duo behind Floris. Between us, we have more than 65 years of experience with flowers, plants and transforming spaces, from everyday florals to large scale events…and there’s very little we haven’t seen or done along the way.

What many people do not know is that my mom’s entrepreneurial journey started long before Floris. Like so many immigrants, she did whatever she could to survive and support her family. She sold used appliances out of our home while also running a daycare from it. Soon after in 1988, she opened a 6000 square foot garden centre entirely on her own. And honestly, who has the nerve, vision and sheer balls to do that? I spent basically every hour outside of school beside her. Somewhere along the way, I went from being the kid tagging along to being a cashier and unpaid shlepper. I was probably wildly too young, but it also made me who I am today.

Eventually, I was taking the subway after school to her second business - a restaurant flower shop hybrid, where Kiva’s is today at Yonge and Eglinton… but that story deserves a post of its own.

More than three decades later, we are still working side by side.

Working with your mother every day is as special, wonderful and occasionally chaotic as you might imagine. We disagree, we bicker, and our team truly deserves sainthood for witnessing it all. But I would not change it for the world.

My mom is the most positive, hard working, selfless, tough and creative force I know, and I feel incredibly lucky to have spent so much of my life beside her.

Floris may have begun with the two of us, but this story is no longer just ours. Our incredible team brings so much talent, heart, patience and humour to this business, and Floris simply would not be what it is today without them.

At the heart of it all is family, hard work, a deep love of flowers and a genuine desire to bring a little more beauty and kindness into our community.

This is just one little piece of our story. There is so much more to share. 🤍

So much of this work goes unseen.
The long hours
the problem solving
the physical toll
the constant care required to work with something alive and perishable.

Weather
timing
fragile stems
tired hands
and the constant balance between art and logistics.

It’s pressure
patience
and persistence.

This industry humbles you
and strengthens you at the same time.

It demands resilience
and attention
and heart.

But in return,
it gives meaning.

To create something fleeting and beautiful
and send it into someone’s life at exactly the right moment,
is why we do it.

And none of it would be possible
without this team
whose hands
hearts
and quiet dedication bring that beauty to life every single day.

Grateful for each of you.

A slightly late Mexico City photo dump because the emotional whiplash from tacos to grocery shopping is real.

Mexico City has been sitting at the top of our list for almost a decade and we finally snuck away kid-free. What started as a girls trip with my Alice, turned into the best little escape for all of us.

Parks, tacos, mezcal, markets, art, colour, architecture,
sound, vibes, this city is alive in a way that stays with you.

Should I make a travel guide of my top things to do, see and eat?
