While we absolutely love discussing different door styles and details, there’s a decision that matters most when it comes to your cabinetry, and that’s what the cabinet door is actually made of!!

Your cabinet door material determines how your kitchen ages, how it feels to open a drawer every single day, and whether it still looks as refined in ten years, not just at install.

There are plenty of materials out there, from solid hardwood, wood veneer, and MDF/HDF, to laminate, thermofoil, and many more. Each has its own place, depending on the room, the budget, and the overall vision for the space. In particular, we love working with these three:

Solid hardwood: for timeless warmth and a finish that only gets better with age

Wood veneer: for the same natural grain, with added stability and versatility

MDF/HDF: for the smoothest, most refined painted finish

Not every basement needs a full gut renovation to feel like a real living space.

This before and after shows how the right paint color, layered lighting, and a few intentional furniture choices can turn an unfinished, forgotten room into a space your family actually wants to spend time in!

By introducing warmth through color, texture, and lighting, we created a cozy media room that feels personal and inviting, and definitely not like an afterthought.

Sometimes the biggest transformation comes from simply giving a space a purpose.

Spent the past week gathering inspiration on the road with a trip to Alberta! Taking note of a place with a much slower pace than the city I’m used to, the colours, the patterns, the materials, and the stillness of being surrounded by mountains. Brought home a few local pieces, and a lot of inspiration for the studio.

Seeing that slower pace, paired with heritage architecture and well-made pieces, is a reminder that design isn’t about filling a space, but collecting it, slowly, with craftsmanship in mind. Not rushed. Just pieces that belong, in a space that can expand and breathe with time.

Good design isn’t always about knocking down walls and starting over.

This before and after shows how thoughtful changes to layout, lighting, storage, and furniture placement can completely change how a space feels without major structural renovations.

By working with the room’s existing features, we created better flow, more conversational seating, and a more inviting atmosphere all around.

Sometimes the biggest transformation comes from simply rethinking how a space works for your needs!
