Every Sunday my children wake up and head directly to my Mother’s suite for ‘Nana Breakfast’. After dipping soldiers they do crafts, draw, read and get spoiled with little presents. It is undoubtedly their favourite day of the week, and represents to me the heart and soul of intergenerational living. Creating a little corner for this magic to happen was one of my top priorities during this renovation. I hope it serves them for many years to come.

Where dreams are made.

Fine & Dandy Co. wallpaper set the tone for this tween refuge. Client’s brief was a ‘cabin in a glen’, somewhere he could escape to that felt wholly his own. Dreaming is big important work for a kid… hope this inspires him for years to come.

Small footprint, big wish list.

Working within a very compact floor plan, we carefully considered every inch to make room for both a generous walk-in shower and a freestanding tub. The restrained palette and continuous terrazzo creates a sense of flow, while the contrasting tile patterns give each zone its own definition. Sometimes the fabric isn’t just the finishing touch. It’s the thing that brings the whole room together.

These chairs from Eternity Modern already had a great shape, but having it made in a COM (customer’s own material) transformed it into something distinctive, considered and completely specific to its surroundings. Many furniture manufacturers will work with you to look beyond their standard fabric options, you just have to ask!

Remote interior design can sound detached, but my experience has been the opposite. It relies on trust, thoughtful communication and a genuinely collaborative relationship. One that can grow across years and multiple projects, even before you ever meet face to face.

And when you finally get to stand in the room with a wonderful client and experience the completed project together, it makes the moment all the more rewarding.

And yes, the kitchen was even better in person.

The basement doesn’t have to feel like the basement.

This one deserved better.

Instead of treating it like a place to simply “make do,” we designed it with the same care as every other room by layering warm oak, terrazzo, and deep blue tile to create a bathroom that feels like a destination, not an afterthought.

The staircase stayed. Almost everything else changed.

Bu opening up the stairwell and removing the visual barriers natural light can now flood into the lower level, transforming what once felt like a dark basement into a bright space connected to the rest of the home.

Sometimes the right piece doesn’t exist.

We spent months searching for a mirror for this powder room and never found one that felt quite right. So instead of compromising, we made one.

Starting with a shape traced from a dining chair, we worked with Place des Arts and their ceramics program to develop a custom mirror frame from scratch. Through glaze testing, mockups, and a lot of experimentation, the final piece became the focal point of the room.

What made it even better was seeing the project become a learning opportunity - under the tutelage of Dan Severance the ceramics students transformed an idea on paper into a piece of art.

One of the best parts of design is knowing when to stop shopping and start creating.
