What’s still growing in your garden this month?
🍅 Keep harvesting
Tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and other summer crops may still have plenty left to give. Regular harvesting can also encourage some plants to keep producing.
🌱 Plant for cooler days
Depending on your growing zone and local frost dates, September can still be a great time for quick-growing and cool-season crops like spinach, arugula and radishes.
✂️ Clear tired plants
As plants finish producing, remove spent or unhealthy growth to make room for fall crops and keep your garden tidy.
🤎 Give your soil some love
As space opens up, adding compost or organic matter can help replenish the soil and prepare it for what comes next.
🍂 Don’t rush the season
September doesn’t mean gardening season is over. Enjoy what’s still growing, keep harvesting and make the most of these last weeks of summer and early fall.
