alternative (and better?) use of yarn cakes: ergonomic pillow for a sleepy dog

i wanted to be more conscious about my fibre choices, and finally got around to taking apart an 100% cotton sweater i haven’t worn in years to recycle the yarn for future projects. MY GOODNESS the patience that took 😢 someone teach me how to find the right thread to cut because i always seem to cut the wrong one at the seams 😭

I’ve really been on a knitting/apparel kick this year in preparation for the colder weather and holiday season. This baby hat knitted from chunky yarn only took me one night to whip up!

There’s not too much of a pattern here since I made it according to the size I needed, but the basic structure is just a 1x1 rib followed by stockinette stitches and closed up with a needle at the end after some even decreases. I worked the whole piece in the round, and added an adorable matching pompom at the end! If you’re interested in seeing a simple video tutorial, please let me know in the comments~

This makes the perfect gift for anyone and you can just adjust the number of cast ones depending on the size of your yarn and who you’re making it for ā˜ŗļø

a little late into the season, but i finished my second crochet tank top from ! It’s the chasing summer tank top (hehe, appropriate name) with thick straps. i’m definitely going to try and work this layered with my outfits this autumn!

the pattern is available for free on her blog, so please check it out if you’re interested~

i used 1 strand of woolike yarn in white if anyone is interested in recreating this version ā˜ŗļø i was lazy and didn’t swatch, but following the pattern as written worked out!

it’s pupper sweater weather againšŸ‚ look forward to more cozy appa pics coming up!

i just came back from a short vacation to singapore. while there, i found the cutest book: woolly woofers! it’s full of adorable knit sweaters for dogs of all shapes and sizes. i am totally planning on my making my way through the book, so keep your eyes peeled 🐶

also, apologies for the lack of posts recently 😢 I updated my phone to IOS 16 and instagram kept crashing on me. I re-installed it, but lost all my drafts 😭

This cactus pin cushion with a secret stitch marker holder is, surprisingly, one of the most useful things I’ve made this year! I’ve been using it for two things: (1) a new Genshin pattern I’m designing (coming soon!!) and (2) sewing!

i’m terrible about leaving stitch markers in every nook and cranny, so it’s been super helpful to have a home for them. plus, the pin cushion also keeps my tapestry needles in one place and just makes the perfect hub to bring around with me as i craft around the house 🧶

this cactus pin cushion will be the first free pattern to be released on my website once it’s live, please keep an eye out for an announcement!

i posted my first proper reel last week, hopefully some of you found it helpful c: currently working on two more, but i couldn’t get it finished by today šŸ˜… hopefully a cute dodoco picture will make your day a little brighter!

also, i’m open to any tips/advice on filming & video ideas! if you wanted to see my work process, yarn storage, or just me bumbling around in genshin, just let me know in the comments~

my goal is to create videos that
1. help people get started with crochet
2. walk through the tricky parts of my patterns
3. make you smile c:

follow along to join me on this new journey!

My favourite colour changing technique for amigurumi! It’s a little different from most colour-change tutorials I’ve seen, so I hope this helps some of you who have the same struggle of always wanting straighter lines when tapestry crocheting in the round c:

I finished the Chasing Summer Tank Top by Knits 'N Knots | Janine Myska] recently and have been loving how it looks! It is actually my first crochet camisole (I usually prefer to knit my clothing pieces), and I accidentally made it a tad shorter than I wanted. Tbh I’m too lazy to undo things after I’ve blocked a piece, so I actually started on similar tank top pattern by knitsnknotswpg (Chasing Summer Light) to fix my sizing. It’s a lighter version of the Chasing Summer tank top because it uses fi*****ng weight yarn, and has thicker straps.

Are you like me, where you’d rather just make changes by making something a second time, or do you prefer frogging and fixing the piece itself? I definitely think method 2 is more yarn-efficient, but I dread undoing knots and unweaving ends…let me know in the comments!
