The beauty of gifting is not in the receiving of a gift, but rather in the giving of it. ✨
I’ve learned the lesson so many times as I watch people spend time in the store. I feel their excitement as they find the perfect gift that has memories and meaning behind it. A pink hummingbird for the breast cancer survivor, a book about snow for the kid who moved here as a refuge and just experienced it for the first time, long beaded earrings the exact colour of a girlfriends eyes, an eggnog hot chocolate bomb for the aunt who loves eggnog and always takes you for hot chocolate, the list goes on and on. When we find the perfect gift for someone special, when the image in front of us, matches the image in our mind (made up from years of history and memories and stories and love and care and goals and hopes for the future) there is an excitement to it where life feels beautiful - perfectly captured in that moment, as meant to be. 💙
For me, that feeling of gifting goes beyond money or the logistics of how to make it happen. And sometimes, much like life in general, it doesn’t come together as perfectly as we would like. I feel the frustration of people as they search for the exact gift they have in mind and can’t seem to find it. Or when they want their gift to arrive by a certain day but ice and snow and horrible driving conditions get in the way. This year, I definitely felt the disappointment of that. 🤍
I’ve always known I opened a gift store for a reason but this year that reason has felt more real that ever. It’s my honour to have a store where I get to experience the joy of gifting through you. Thanks for including Jodie, Astrid, Sara, Isabelle and I into your world. We know that giving gifts is often vulnerable, it requires opening your heart and it often costs more in terms of emotions and money than you would like, so we are truly grateful you choose us. 💗
This holiday season, on Christmas Day and the last night of Chanukah, we want to say thank you and we hope you love the gifts you give! - Lisa ✨💙
