An ingenious Architectural Solution

A question for architects; Your child loves basketball and you must have a basketball court in your house. But your house is not made on a big enough land. What do you do?
See the ingenious solution presented by Shuichiro Koizumi, an architect from Japan.
He says: " For this house project, we’ve tried to create a new relation between indoor basketball court and living house. The layout arrangement of this house is inspired by typical gymnasium layouts, where we have the indoor basketball court planned in center core space of the house, with rooms located on opposite sides of the court.
The house is designed with a unique scale, which makes it hard to define whether the interior space is grand or narrow; the basketball court is ¼ the size of a regular basketball court, with a 3050mm high basketball ring, and a 6000mm high ceiling, which is even large enough to play free-throws. The center court is also designed to be multi-purpose, with a possibility in becoming a home library, and more possibilities to be explored by the client over time.

An engineering marvel
"Hovenring" is the World’s first suspended bicycle path roundabout.A 70-metre tall central pylon, 24 steel cables & a circular bridge deck made out of circa approximately 1,000 tons of steel. The cables are attached to the inner side of the bridge deck, right where the bridge deck connects to the circular, concrete counter weight. This helps prevent torsion within the 72-metre diameter bridge deck. To ensure stability, concrete was added to sections of the bridge deck along with M-shaped supports.

Every apartment has quirks and challenges. But every feature can be beautiful and useful if you work it just the right way. The trick is to make your unique situation into the best possible version it can be. I'll try to provide you with examples in a series of posts. Check the first one out.
"Closet where you don't need it"
If you've got a closet in a random room that doesn't call for one, don't forget that that is still usable floor space. Howard not only removed the doors to add extra square footage to his living room, he painted the inside to give it a special, set-apart nook vibe for a mini seating area.

Get the Architecture Right
To make a new residence or to improve your existing home is an important decision. It should be followed by a series of other decisions which could determine the quality, cost, duration, and overall success of the project. Let's discuss one important decision, namely getting the architecture right.
By choosing traditional architectural styles (such as Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian) you can avoid your home looking dated in the future. These styles continue even in very contemporary architecture to make more modern-style homes because the elements include a history and processes that can be incorporated into any form of architecture.
So when you consider the type of architecture you want to build your home with, remember that many believe that the ideal architectural style is a combination of traditional and contemporary styles. For example, the most traditional elements of home building, like its mass and scale, are kept along with implementation of some modern influences to the design.

Getting the right architect,
knowing who should be doing the work is as important as understanding what work should be undertaken in any project. Making sure you have the right architect for the job can be difficult, but there are certain tips that can help in getting the right person.

1. The work they do

This is the one question that can’t be avoided. Ask to see some of their work, whether graphical as part of their portfolio, or actual imagery of samples of their work.

2. conceptual ideas

Ask them to sketch some conceptual ideas for you to be able to better assess their ability and knowledge to take your requirements and create a professional work responding to those requirements.

3. Passion for the job

Last but not least has to do with a general rule for any creative job to be successful. It is extremely important to select an architect for her/his passion in the job. You will notice the grave difference in the outcome when you find someone who loves doing this, not just as a job.
